Our trip was fantastic. Will and Heather, our tour guides, were experienced, lovely, fun, funny and full of really interesting information. Each day we saw spectacular scenary, got amazing exercise and learned a lot about this beautiful land. The accommodations and dining experiences were great as well. I would highly recommend this trip!!

I know … this was a hiking trip. However, it was great to be guided by Holly and Jean Marc because I felt like I was a traveler not a tourist. It was like being a part of a European life style while enjoying hiking, biking and kayaking. The routes chosen were excellent, the food was great and the hotels were always comfortable.

Iceland is fascinating: glaciers, volcanoes, geysers, natural hot springs, waterfalls, rugged coastlines, black sand, golden sand - and weather that changes all the time. The country is certainly feeling the effects of climate change, which is all the reason to go there sooner rather than later. We found Active Adventures to be the exact right way to explore this wonderful place - great guides, a small compatible group, and just the right mix of activity (and quite varied activity), travel (without the hassle of driving yourself around), and fun.

My wife and I loved the combination of active and tourist, but especially liked the hikes with secret waterfalls and mountains that few if any tourists ever visit. We are in our 60's and the trip was challenging but very doable with plenty of time each day for the activity. I would recommend some fitness preparation as it definitely paid off on the uphill climbs. Andy from Active Adventures and Tom from Iceland were both top notch experienced guides who made it all work with added knowledge of history, geology and current affairs in Iceland.

The scenery and trip was wonderful, however, having done the Southern Patagonia trip first, I felt Northern Patagonia did not have the majestic scenery of Southern Patagonia. Some of the days were short on hiking and included long drives. Mayra was fabulous! as were all the additional local guides.
