I finished my two week Rimu (southbound) journey in late January. We had an amazing trip. I traveled solo but instantly developed friendships with everyone in my tour group. You will not go hungry on this adventure. Joe was a fantastic chef. Vanessa, our Kiwi guide and driver, was amazing - always prepared, full of knowledge, fun, great with recommendations. Everyday was fantastic. Braemar Station was one of my favorite stops. The scenery was phenomenal. Queenstown will fill any adventurer's itinerary. I opted to zipline in Queenstown and heli-bike (Fat Tyre Adventures) - memories I will not soon forget. Lodging accommodations were good. While good weather cannot be guaranteed, my tour group experienced only one day of meaningful rain (Milford Sound). Whether you are looking for an ACTIVE challenge or a change of pace adventure, this is the trip for you. The guides will mold the trip to your skill level, but the trip is quite active - my Fitbit is proof. Amazing, breath-taking, serene, vast, fun, wild, epic, once-in-a-lifetime are a few adjectives to describe my experience. Did I mention the friendships that are possible? If you are thinking about this trip, do it!

The Manuka Trip, including Milford Track, had everything. Excellent guides, who can cook, drive, entertain, and keep us on track and safe. The mix of hikes, accommodations and scenery were non stop breathtaking. The companionship that developed will make this a trip I will long remember.

The Condor trip in particular the W Trek was a challenge in that our belongings were transported not by porters but by ourselves. Jim and Cynthia were attentive to the group's different speeds of trekking and accommodated us accordingly. When they were asked how much further we had to struggle up or down hill the answer was always "just 20 more minutes". We soon learned Patagonian time is different! The trip was great. We had a great group of fellow travelers who enhanced the enjoyment even further. The scenery was indescribable, one must see it to appreciate the grandeur.

Well organized by Active Adventures, and couldn't have asked for better companions to travel with. A slow start with lots of traveling time but not disappointing with the scenery outside the window, Dave's skillful driving and his endless storytelling. I learned a lot from Maori language and history to what Manuka honey is all about, to why the the Kiwi can't fly, and to how the Tui bird got his white balls on his chin. If you are ********* hikers and just want to 'bag' peaks, then maybe you should look at other treks. The Manuka offers options that everybody can hike. Some of the peaks require quite a bit of cardio and are strenuous, but you don't need to 'summit' them, or do so at your own pace. The views were fabulous at every vantage point. I took their Milford Track option which was also very well organized and enjoyable. The climate in the Southern Alps is known for its unpredictability, we were lucky that we had great weather for most of our 14 days there. A shout out to Tess, our other guide. Our trip wouldn't have worked without Tess! Tess fed us well and she certainly knows her ice creams!

We had a wonderful time on our Active Adventures Weka holiday. From the very outset - in the planning stage - the organization was responsive, helpful, and had lots of ideas to make this holiday truly something to remember. Our guides, Nick B., Elder and Gary, were wonderful. They were fun, personable, and worked very hard to make sure that our holiday was great. The holiday itself, including the biking, hiking, scenery, restaurants, accommodations, and other activities, were everything that was advertised and were outstanding. All of this was topped off with the amazing New Zealander hospitality. Absolutely top rating for Active Adventures. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

As any seasoned traveler knows, it's not just about getting to the beautiful places and experiences... it's about how you get there: what's the ratio of smooth, no-fuss to aggravation, annoyance and (bad) surprises. No trip is perfect on that score, but it's hard to imagine things going more smoothly than what the folks at Active Adventures assembled and executed for us. Big picture, the RIMU trip hits just about as many of the highlights of the South Island that one could hope for in a two-week trip. I'd probably have appreciated another day each on Milford and Routeburn Treks, but not quite sure what to have given up to make it so. But that isn't the distinguishing factor for me--you can pick and choose from among the itineraries of the various tour companies, or plan your own, to your tastes. What made the difference was the care and precision with which everything was executed. Both the tour company far in advance, and our guides on the trip (Michelle, Mel(issa) and Dave were organized, let us know what we needed to know in advance, delivered what they said they would deliver, knowledgeable, and were appropriately prepared with contingency plans when weather demanded some improvisation. Two weeks of no worries as a result, which made the enjoyment of the big picture stuff that much more fulfilling.

I truly believe that staying on the four islands (instead of a ship) and being able to eat at local restaurants, mingle with the Educadorians as well as partaking in other special land based activities made the trip even more memorable then I had imagined. Our Naturalist guide, Pepo who was born and raised on San Cristabol and has achieved level Three of his profession and was the very essence and spirit of a wonderful trip both from an educational aspect as well as a true adventure!!

From our first day of biking from the highland in the rain to the beach and snorkeling with a few sea lions in a beautiful bay which began our amazingly active, awesome nine days with our fabulous naturalist guide Pepo. Pepo's insight of the flora, fauna, and the geology and history of the Galapagos Islands and interesting tours of the intriguing indigenous and endemic animals and their habitats was very special. He took special care and attention to our needs and wants throughout the trip. I am glad to say that it was one of the most experiential learning travel trips I have ever taken.

The treks planned for the "Condor" adventure vacation are beautiful beyond my ability to describe verbally or to capture on camera. They simply have to be experienced by doing the hikes. I thought no mountain views of shear granite could rival Yosemite. but I was wrong. Both Torres de Paine and Mount Fitzroy do just that.

New Zealand was awesome, the guides were great and the hikes were even better. The helicopter and small plane rides were thrilling. The jet boat was also great fun.
