I had originally booked my trip for May and of course due to the earthquake it had to be cancelled. I will start here because the way it was handled was exceptional. I was convinced to rebook for oct and I feel quite lucky I did. Active did a most exceptional job w all their team down to every detail and the fact that Nepal was less crowded made for a good trip. By the Nepalese were so grateful we were there and I was glad active convinced me to go. I would not have liked the trip had the trails been more crowded. So for me it was perfect timing. My only comment would be that the 2 days at end of the trip in Kathmandu were too much. Wld of rather had the last inn on trail as the extra day. Thank u active team for a wonderful and lifetime journey.

This really was the trip of a lifetime. The accessibility of the most amazing landscapes I've visited was second to none - hats off to the NZ DOC for their great work there! The guides (Andy and Alex) were simply the best. We had a small group (first trip of the season) of only 4 travelers, and we and the 2 guides were all the best of friends by the end. Only disappointment was that my heli-hike on Franz Josef glacier was cancelled due to the weather, but you can't win em all I guess. Highly recommended trip! Get out there and do it! :)

Cynthia, our guide, was the heart and soul of the group. She took care of everything and made sure our mood stayed strong and upbeat the entire time. There were 12 people in the group and each one of us felt personally taken care of throughout the entire 2 weeks of our trip.
Don't be fooled, this trip is not for the feint of heart (or feet). The W trek especially, pushes you to your limits but the feeling you get when you have reached the top of the trail is so worth it!
This was my first time ever backpacking and the guides (Cynthia, Arturo and Cem especially) were never frustrated or impatient when I lagged behind. Their encouragement and support helped me get to the top (and down) each time. My whole group was just as supportive with everyone high fiving each other after a successful climb or day.
The food on the W was fine - not great, but what do you expect when essentially staying in summer camps and packing a bag lunch (although there is still room for improvement on the lunches). The food the rest of the trip was amazing - Cynthia has great connections and has certainly done her homework finding unique and cool places to dine.
The hotel choices throughout the trip were good, with one really nice stand out that we stayed at for three days. Cynthia's relationships with the hotel owners/managers is clear, and we received special attention at each place we stayed which was a nice touch.
I will admit I would have liked to have something to break up the hiking a little bit more. By the last couple days I was a little bit saturated with "climb big hill to see gorgeous mountain". We did have a bike trip scheduled for the last day, but we were all so tired and worn out by then that it lost its appeal.
One really great thing about the guides at Active is that if you chose to do something different (ie. skip a hike) then they ensure that you have a safe alternative and don't feel any coercion to participate in all activities.
This is my second Active trip and so far I am a huge fan! I look forward to more Active Adventures in the future.

I had a blast on the Rimu trip! It was well thought out and planned - there was a good variety and balance to our activities, and the guides always had a fun Plan B if the weather or other circumstances got in the way. I feel like I got to experience the best parts of New Zealand. The local guides were awesome and really added a lot to the trip - they are fun and knowledgeable and love to share stories and information. Overall, it was fantastic!

There are no words to describe the unforgettable experience I had whilst in Nepal. Everything went perfect, and the team Dan, Arjun, Badrit and Borat were always there to make the trip flow with the highest quality possible. While walking it was perfect, each individual was always there to also make it fun, exciting and unforgettable. I have to specially thank Dan for introducing me to the local culture and make me fall in love with Nepal. I can't wait to come back and see more!

This Galapagos trip was labelled an active adventure which quite frightened me since at 71 years old I am no longer as active as I once was. My fears were increased when I met my trip mates who all looked very fit. However the guide Pablo made it possible for me to do every event by making small and large accommodations. I had a wonderful time and I felt this trip revealed a lot more about the Galapagos than just Darwin and the animals. We met the people and experienced island areas that no one else I know has ever visited. This was a trip to remember forever.

Loved the trip. Everything was well done. Cynthia was fantastic. I have had good guides on both my other Active Trips (Machu Pichu and Galapagos, but Cynthia added something extra. Only critique is that while Peru and Ecuador had more of a mix of activities, bike riding, horseback riding, a little urban in Cuzco, this one overdid for me) the hiking. Loved the W Trek, but would have enjoyed other options in El Cheltan (a whitewater trip maybe?)

Steep glacial clifts, big mountains, pristine vistas, wild west, wild weather, awesome beaches!!! The Rimu trip delivers a fantastic excursion in the South Island including must sees like Queenstown and Milford Sound and less traveled like the Kepler Track and Braemer Station. The itinerary is spectacular and Amanda and Kim were excellent guides and hosts to this wonderful country. I couldn't have asked for more and didn't want to leave!!!

Scenery was beautiful, trail conditions great, weather great in early October. The tea houses were an indoor camping experience with no heat or plugs in the rooms but beds were comfortable and food was excellent. Dingboche was my favorite town for sure. Monks playing volleyball in their long red robes was unreal. Yaks are cute and scary at the same time. Baby yaks are just super cute! The Khumbu glacier is really, really big! Don't use outhouses unless absolutely necessary! Bushes and rocks are better than the outhouses.

All in all, this trip was not what I expected because I had no expectations and just needed out of dodge so desperately! I had an epic adventure full of complete surprises because I totally let go and had no idea what to expect next.

I've heard too many people say skip the North Island. I am so happy I ignored that advice. This was a fabulous trip--outstanding itinerary, eye popping scenery, great people, excellent food, and spectacular guides. I loved the North Island forests. They are definitely unique. The Footprints tour with the local Maori guides was a highlight of this trip. I've been on a lot of guided trips and Andy and Clara were two of the best guides ever. Very knowledgeable about all aspects of New Zealand, attentive to every detail, fun, and great cooks. I would travel with them again and look forward to my next Active Adventures trip.

The Rimu Trip was absolutely amazing. The itinerary included a great variety of activities amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Never a dull moment on this trip. Kayaking Milford Sound was a highlight and lodging at Braemar Station was tops. I can't say enough good things about Active Adventures and the Rimu trip--great locations, scenery, people, food, and some of the best guides ever. This is an award winning trip for good reason.

We loved all aspects of our Manuka trip. Nick and Elysse were terrific. They worked VERY hard ... keeping us informed, cooking meals, handling baggage, describing the scenery and history and animals and plants in New Zealand, and making needed adjustments on the fly. Not to mention their being our terrific and thoughtful hiking guides for 2 weeks! I would do it again with them.

this was definitely the case with our hiking trip to Angelus hut. Even if only 4 of the group ( out of 16) could make it - this was the most exciting adventure on hiking I ever had.
