This was my third trip with Active. Every time I am reminded of what makes Active so great. My friend and I had not been at the hotel (arriving before the trip began) an hour before Dan greeted us. He was a friendly face in a hectic city. He was warm, welcoming, and answered any and ALL questions we had (down to where to grab food and drinks). Every guide (Dan, Arjun, Bibek) worked hard to make this a seamless adventure. Their expertise, and good company, is second to none. I was taken aback by the beauty of Nepal's landscape and its people. Thank you for all you do!

This trip was amazing. Although the destination (EBC) was the reason we signed up, it was the journey that made it such an epic experience! The scenery as we trekked in the Himalayas was spectacular and the small villages along the way gave us a unique way of connecting with the wonderful Nepalese people. Our tour guides were awesome and our fellow traveling companions were so much fun combining to truly make this a trip of a lifetime.

My Everest Base Camp Trek with Active Adventures went way beyond what I expected, it was life-changing. Not only is Nepal a magical place, the scenery indescribable, and its culture one to fall in love with, but our guide, DK, was knowledgeable and well-connected to the Nepali people and the customs and traditions of this vibrant country; we, as trekkers, were treated with the utmost care and kindness. We learned some of the Nepali language, ate incredible foods, sipped on yak butter tea and other fine teas, and endured some of the most giving AND unforgiving landscapes in the world. In addition, we enjoyed native music and dance, toured Monasteries and experienced a Puja ceremony, and observed firsthand, the everyday life, crafts, and skills of these peaceful people. We recognized immediately, the value in traveling this country with an experienced guide/outfitter for many reasons, partly feeling as if we had VIP treatment. We would definitely travel with Active Adventures again. And though it was heartbreaking to leave Nepal; I hope to make my way back again some day.

This was an adventure in a simply marvellous part of the world. Like so many things in life, the people who led the trip played a huge part in its success. The terrain is magnificent, the trek tough enough to make it an enjoyable challenge. We had prepared ourselves, as we live at approx. 500 feet, so getting fit was important. We did this by climbing stairs for four months before the trip began, starting gently and by the time we left we were doing about two miles of stairs at a time, a day.
The tea houses were disappointing only in that we had expected more. They are gritty. However, that isn't a problem, I don't think, if one understands that in advance. We were impressed by the food, and the wide range of choices given our location.

Our tour guides (Katie & Laura) really went above & beyond to make our experience seamless & special. A particularly wonderful highlight for me was when they arranged & surprised us with a trip to the Wrinkly Ram Cafe so we could feed lambs!

I loved our trip. We ended up being a very small group, just another couple and I. It was great as we all became like family.
Erick was fantastic, easy going and knowledgeable about Peru...very proud of his country. He was extremely helpful regarding a mix-up in our jungle accommodations and offered great recommendations for my five day stay in Lima. Looking forward to teaching my family "Erick's Game" :)

An absolutely wonderful two weeks which left me on top of the world, and everyone following my adventures back home completely jealous. The itinerary lived up to everything it promised, even when the weather played havoc with plan A, there was always an alternative which did not disappoint. And having now had a taste of what NZ has to offer, I will definitely be hopping the ditch again to explore more of the amazing landscape. The guides were both exceptional - friendly, knowledgable, patient and inexhaustible. We always felt in safe and capable hands whether out tramping through the wilderness, or driving along the cursedly winding roads in Nancy. And no one would be surprised to hear me say how much I enjoyed Amanda's cooking.

This was a once in a lifetime experience. Our group ranged in age from 27 to 82! I enjoyed getting to know everyone. The scenery was spectacular (even in the rain). We truly learned the importance of great guides and porters in this unpredictable area of the world.

I can't say enough good things about this Company, from the time of booking to the end of my trip. Very user friendly booking and everyone I spoke to was very helpful and always very happy, which was great for someone who had little personal time to plan a vacation. The group was small (9) which was great in both being able to meet new people while not feeling lost in a crowd of people. The guides Dan & Sarah were quite amazing in keeping us seeing and learning about the beauty of of New Zealand and accomodating our style of "active and adventure level". The guides went to the nth degree to make sure you were having a great time and were happy. Its been 1 month now since my trip with AA and I'm still roaring about it to my friends and family. Fantastic adventure! This was a bucket list trip for us and there were no disappointments. We had a great group of people to travel with, we had fantastic weather, both our guides were excellent and everything went great. Well, OK not everything. I managed to get myself quite sick on the way up but fortunately for me we had an acclimatization day and fortunately our guides were well trained and well stocked with the appropriate medications to get me back on my feet and traveling the next day. This was a very well planned trek that accounted for proper acclimatization and incorporated appropriate time for weather delays if necessary. I'm super impressed with Active and the guides. I don't believe there is any room for improvement. My only minor comment is I think a pillow case should be included in the gear list.

It was truly a trip to remember! The landscapes of the Lares trail were incredible. I will always cherish this trip as it offered so many diverse opportunities to view Peru and its many natural landscapes and architecture. From the mountains of the Lares Inka Trail -to the jungle -to the waters of the beautiful Lake Titikaka... it was one incredible day after another. Our trip was over the top. I have been on many trips over my lifetime, but this one was effortless from the organization up front to the care we were given during our trip. We could not have asked for a better guide. Erik was the most wonderul guide and person. His knowledge, organization and personal care for each of us was more than we could have asked for. We saw many other groups during our tour and we can definitely say we were given 5 star treatment the entire time compared to the others. We have left a little saddened as we miss Erik so much. I would recommend Erik as a guide for anyone visiting Peru -- he was outstanding. Thanks again for all. Miraculous is all I can say.
