Coming from an English guy who decided one day to climb mountains... It was hard! I was amongst friends from the US & my tour guide was kiwi. All of which had experience with mountains and what to expect. So it is my gratitude to those people that helped me achieve getting to Base Camp because without them, I'd still be crying in my room in Namche (due to first time experience with altitude). If I go into it too much, this will be my Oscar winning speech, thanking everyone who made it possible - even the companies that supplied the equipment. My tip to you: make sure you have everything you need (but don't over do it. Clothes are worn 6 days in a row at one point), LISTEN to the guide & Sherpas, Drink water & best of all, have fun!!! The guide, Sherpas, porters and other travellers are your friends and will help you. The support you get is phenomenal. Do this and your trip will be amazing. P.s It's not easy. If it was, where's the fun in it?! ;)

I absolutely loved the Jaguar trip. Not only was Peru beautiful, but Cynthia was a phenomenal guide who went the extra mile to make sure all of her clients were comfortable and happy. I enjoyed every part of the trip, and I will book with Active again in the future!

This trip was incredible! This whole adventure exceeded my expectations and has left me with the happiest memories. The Annapuna route was so incredibly beautiful with the panoramic views and picturesque teahouses. The teahouses served such delicious food, I was so impressed with the range of choices for each meal. I booked my trip with Active without really knowing what I was in for. My research of Nepal and trekking was slim, but they provided detailed information on the equipment and training required. I would encourage any future trekkers to make sure you've put in your training. My slightly unfit state didn't impact on the success of achieving everything though. The Active team adapt the level of activity to the ability of the group and they encouraged us to enjoy the journey - it's not just about the destination! They were patient, especially Arjun and Bohrat who had the task of waiting for the stragglers like me. The Nepali guides are so wonderful, always so friendly, happy and graciously accommodating. Having these guys as part of the team was a definite highlight. I would (and have been) highly recommend doing their tours, because they are expert team but also ensure you have a lot of fun as well.

Our group of 16 did the Tortuga trip with Pablo and Pepo in April and what a fabulous time we had! The Galapagos are stunning and I am so glad that we got to stay on the islands rather than on a cruise ship. Staying on the islands gave me a more intimate feeling of the people, the land, the birds, the marine iguanas and of course all the sea lions! Pablo and Pepo were fantastic guides and I was always amazed at their knowledge as well as their amazing ability to get all of us where we needed to be in the most efficient way possible. It seemed like we could ask Pablo and Pepo anything about the Galapagos and they knew the answer. This made the trip for me. I'm a nature lover but a birder first and I was so happy that I could ask either one of them the names of the birds I was seeing and they could tell me. I also liked that Pablo and Pepo both shared what it was like to live in the Galapagos with us. Just an all round amazing trip. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone especially if Pablo and Pepo are your guides!

I lived in Germany for two years prior to visiting New Zealand, and in that time I was able to travel all throughout Europe and see many of the "most beautiful places in the world". However, I have never been to any country that was more beautiful or amazing than New Zealand. More than just the aesthetically pleasing aspects that New Zealand has to offer, but also the people, the food, and the general outlook on life is unlike any other place that I have ever experienced.

What an unbelievable experience! ÂOnce again, Active Adventures does an amazing job with their adventures. This experience was more than words can express because of our guide-Sudeep and our porter Kadir. Sudeep has the passion, knowledge, commitment and truly the love of the mountains to make sure his clients experience the best of the best of his beautiful country. Along with Sudeep, Kadir greeted us each day with a smiling warm good morning. I was very humbled that Sudeep and Kadir called me ama, which means mom in Nepalese. We were family for 14 days and the memories will last a lifetime! Everyday they made sure we were taken care of - We truly had a remarkable time! Nepal has a special place in our hearts - We look forward to going back to Nepal when Mustang opens up! Dhanyabad Mimi and Derald

A unique trip for a unique destination. Every one knows the islands are home to some very special endemic species. By using land-based accommodations this trip also lets you appreciate the Galapagoean community.

Was my first organized Tour and really enjoyed having the trip laid out and planned, made it very easy. Pepo was great, had a wealth of local knowledge and a good sense of humor, made it enjoyable, enjoyed meeting his family and seeing his fathers creativity. One hike I thought I sprained my ankle, and everyone was so helpful, helping me with all aspects of getting back to the bus, hope everyone read this so I can Thank the whole group. Especially Asher who helped carry my heavy pack. It turned out my ankle was broken and I'm now stuck in a cast like boot for 6 weeks!

This trip was truly incredible - from the wildlife encounters that have to be seen to be believed, to the beautiful islands, to the funny nights out and the delicious coffee. It was well organised, tonnes of fun and our guide Zambo was amazing - he shared a huge depth of knowledge and did it all with a smile. Couldn't ask for more.

Jaguar (7 day version) was a 40th birthday present to myself. Every detail was taken care of by Active Adventures, which is important when traveling abroad alone. My guide(s), Frank and John, were knowledgable and entertaining. The food was amazing and Machu Pichhu did not disappoint. I will be using Active for my next Adventure!

This was a truly amazing trip. Expensive but worth every penny. I believe it would be impossible for anyone to utilize their trip time anywhere near as well as Pablo and Pepo did. One morning we had breakfast, went by bus to beach, kayaked for an hour, watertaxi to iguana island and walked around, watertaxi back out in bay to snorkel, watertaxi back to dock, bus to lunch. And if that's too fast paced for you, no problem, you can sit out on some of it. Both guides kept a finger on the pulse of the group and varied the itinerary accordingly. For example, stopped the bus on the way home one day and we all got out and picked guava's which were then dropped off at the breakfast restaurant for guava juice the next day. Loved all the wildlife and natural surroundings and the history the guides provided. Staying on the islands in small hotels gave a wonderful feel for life there. Just an amazing trip.

From start to finish, this was a pretty good show. Erick, the main guide, is a Cuzco native, so he provided good local flavor for the lore and traditions of the area. And all of the specialized guides (for Machu Picchu, the rainforest, and Puno) were well-versed in their specialties. The Lares Trail hike allowed us to get to know some of the local Andean villagers and their lifestyle. The trip to the Amazon Rainforest included a pleasant surprise when we tried piranha fishing. And the jungle-area guide even gave us a treat by luring a tarantula out of its home. And the lodging there was really cool. And the subcultures on the islands of Lake Titicaca give a look at Peru that a lot of travelers would otherwise miss. The bike ride along the route to Puno was a bit shorter than I would have expected. I had figured a couple of hours, but we finished in less than an hour. But I understand that timing for the trip between Cuzco and Puno has to figure into the equation. It was run a little bit differently than the Rimu trip in New Zealand, probably because of the logistics of getting around in Peru, so it seems Active Adventures knows how to adapt its trips to the regions.

A good trip right from the start, as the group formed itself - and this was a key to enjoying what Active brings you to. Unpredictable, of course, but in this case the chemistry worked well. Above that, we had a well-led, fascinatingly revealing journey of great variety. We are busy recommending to our friends. upcoming diversions will keep us somewhat anchored at home for a year or so, but we will be back!

I'm an orthopedic surgeon. I've been in practice for 32 years. My son Tom is 25. His elder brothers are 27 and 33. All my sons have paid dearly for their dad's obligation to be away from them much of the time they were young children. A time of retreat and renewal was what I hoped from the Active trip. Sweating and gasping for breath surrounded by awesome beauty of God's most magnificent creations, and sharing that experience with my son fulfilled every hope and dream. With the support of GT and Sarah I was able to surpass everything I expected possible of myself. I had feared failure. The feeling of accomplishment is profoundly satisfying. Even more moving was seeing Tom who had nearly reached the top of our last climb hiking back down to the mid point to check on me and give me water. I eventually completed that climb, and was cheered upon reaching the top.

New Zealand is a beautiful country and the Rimu lets you see a great deal of it in only two weeks. GT was great fun and I won't forget Sarah's constant encouragement when I thought I'd reached my limit and of course her amazing ability to cook up cordon bleu food at the top of a mountain! Would highly recommend- this is my second trip to New Zealand with Active and they never disappoint.
