A wonderful fortnight. I loved the variety of places we visited, the guides were superb, fellow travelers were great company and mother nature came through with splendid weather so who could ask for more?

Truly a magical experience. We had a beautiful mix of activity, culture, and history of New Zealand. Duck was a special guide who made New Zealand come alive. We enjoyed his information, encouragement, and cooking. It also helped that the weather was perfect. This trip is a "must do" if you want to appreciate the totality of New Zealand.

The Rimu trip exceeded our expectations. We usually like to research areas and travel independently, but we would never have been able to see and do so much on the South Island on our own, nor would we have had the chance to get to know the 12 others who traveled with us. Leaving the day trip planning, accommodation arrangement, driving, cooking, and even the research to our guides, Ken and Nick, made for a "no worries" holiday, without my nose stuck in a guidebook. The kayak option was phenomenal - we recommend it to anybody who enjoys paddling and feels apprehensive about the backpack option (although, we wish we could have done both)! Trip of a lifetime.

Wow. The Rimu trip is jam-packed with adventure, activity, and scenery. We were awed with every aspect of this trip, and felt challenged by the itinerary. I told Cassie and Amanda every day, "keep this in the trip". I believe you captured the essence of the South Island in the 2 weeks we explored your paradise.

New Zealand is a magical country and we were able to not just drive by and view it but we were immersed in it. Active Adventures seamlessly linked all our activities together to make use of every moment. Our guides, Ken and Nick, had a joie de vivre that set the tone for our group. They were professional, funny, encouraging and I felt completely safe in their care. Who knew they could cook too!!
All our accommodations were comfortable and special with Braemar being the groups overwhelming favorite. Imagine having our own house with rolling hills overlooking a lake with Mt. Cook as the backdrop.
I wanted to do an "Active" trip (and not a sight seeing trip) as I had just retired and turned 65. The trip helped me to achieve my personal goals.
I would highly recommend Acitve Adventures for those who want to be outside in nature and have all the behind the scenes details taken care of for an ultimate experience.

Patagonia is a must do vacation. The mountains, lakes, glaciers and forests are so beautiful- there really is no way to capture it in words. I have been waiting years to do this trip and I seriously considered planning it on my own. What a relief it is that I did not. The Condor trip was so thoroughly organized and our group leader Cynthia was an endless source of energy, enthusiasm, facts and stories. She provided us with what most travelers only dream about- a truly immersive experience in an unfamiliar land. Our local guides were also excellent- J in Chile made us laugh and laugh until we forgot the aches in our ankles and knees; and Tibu in Argentina helped me find rock climbing shoes, a crash pad and some perfect bouldering problems for my "rest" day. What an amazing treat -you should add it to the itinerary ;) On a personal note- I made this trip, in part, to pay my respects to my mother who passed this year. My mom was a life-long traveler and deeply spiritual person and Patagonia would have thrilled her. Cynthia went out of her way to make sure that I had time and privacy each day to pray as my mother would have, and when I was done, Cynthia pulled me back into the energy of the group and we all ate, laughed, played cards and drank wine like old sailors. This was hardly a typical tour leaders responsibility and I was touched by Cynthia's respectful and compassionate consideration. I can't express my gratitude enough. I look forward to my next Active Adventures trip....

Our first group tour since we usually book the itinerary on our own. Since this was our first international trip we decided to give Active a go. Wow are we ever glad we did - all the details were taken care of from the lodging (at great locations), food (delicious) and activities (challenging hikes worth every step for the beautiful views) and all we had to do was enjoy it. Our guides GT and Mel showed us to a bucket list type of vacation during the RIMU trip, can't imagine how we could have packed more in on a tour of the south island. One of my highlights was celebrating my 60th Birthday at Angelus Hut - waking up to a warm cupcake with candle on top of the world! Going to be hard to top this trip in the future!

The tour was better than expected and about as good as it could possibly be. All things considered, including logistics and the various levels of participant fitness, I thought it was great. I believe everyone in our group enjoyed the trip and appreciated the effort made by our guides (Dave and Nicole) to make it a memorable one. Great job guys.

Our guide GT, was amazing. His cooking and knowledge of New Zealand and its native culture was extensive. He managed to offer a little of something to each of the members of our group whether it be to find a new cell phone or to running up a mountain to challenge another hiker. We have already recommended Active Adventures to our book club, who're currently reading The Luminaires.

The adventures on our exciting Rimu trip kept coming and coming. We knew we were in for a remarkable experience when we donned our backpacks and took to the wilderness for three days. Although the initial adventure was a true challenge, the fortitude and good cheer of our wonderful guides, plus their amazing patience, was motivating and inspiring. After the accomplishment of this hike in the Nelson Lakes National Park, we were up for anything! And on we went - up through rain forests, along mountain ridges, finding hidden lakes, kayaking lagoons, and winding our way around a beautiful lake on our mountain bikes. The group was spirited and cohesive - a mood that was created and reinforced by our guides. Thank you to Active Adventures New Zealand for constructing such a wonderful itinerary, thank you to our fabulous guides, Ken and Nick, who saved the day each day, thank you to our fellow travelers who helped make the trip so joyous, and thank you to New Zealand for being so incredibly gorgeous.

I had a fantastic time. The guide (Jessica) was a charming eloquent individual. My companions were interesting and cool people. The wild life was a gas. My only problem was that equator sun. I'm a red head and didn't put enough sun screen on my face and looked like I was attacked by a jaguar at the end.

We had a great time on our Active New Zealand Trip. Ken and Nick were awesome tour guides. They fed us well, kept us entertained, answered all our questions, and they were just so easy to get along with. The Rimu trip was beautiful. We had great weather the entire time except for one day where it rained and didn't complete one of the hikes because it was raining and views were clouded in. Otherwise, we had a great taste of the South Island!

I concur with all Karen has written and would especially like to underline the people skills, good cheer, enthusiasm, knowledge and patience of our leaders. We have been on a number of similar adventures in other countries and hands down, Ken and Nick were the finest guides. They enjoy what they do and the people who do it with them. I need to inject just one negative note- you must ditch the pizza and chips meal we had near Milford lodge. Aside from it obviously not having been designed by a nutritionist, it was awful pizza and awful chips. Otherwise the trip was perfection.

As seniors , both in our eighth decade, we have completed many active trips in our lifetime, mostly of the hiking variety. This trip was an excellent introduction to the south part of the South Island covering the major highlights and giving us an excellent taste of the great outdoors to be enjoyed in this beautiful country. The expert driving and commentary by Dan together with superb logistics and selected meals provided by Amanada contributed greatly to the cohesion of our group and our enjoyment of the overall experience. We compliment Active Adventures for their excellent service!

We saw so many amazing beaches, hikes and waterfalls. It was so nice that everything was planned for us but sometimes they changed it up a bit to meet our group needs. Lauren and Sarah were always in a good mood joking around with everyone. The food they cooked was great but when we did eat out they would find just the right spot for us . I loved all the small places we stayed and that they always had milk in the refrig. for you in the morning for your coffee or tea. This trip definitely was a 10. I would not have changed a thing. Thank you, Thank you. I will spread the word about Active Adventures.
