The South Island trip was truly amazing. We loved all the activities and all the great meals that Kate and Graeme prepared for us. Fantastic cooking that provided great meals, and enjoyable conversations while dinner and lunch were being prepared each day. I liked that we could ask either guide many questions about the area, and found them to be very knowledgeable. Kate and Graeme were excellent guides that enjoyed their jobs, and were amazing with all of us. This was a trip of a lifetime for us, and we do not have any concerns or complaints about this trip in a negative way... only wonderful memories that I do not want to forget, and two individuals that I will always remember and wish that someday in our future our paths may cross again. Loved this experience, and hope that we can someday return to New Zealand.

I have always wanted to see New Zealand and the pictures on the site truly do not do justice to how beautiful it is. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I loved every minute of it.

I would actually rate the trip a 4.5. There are a few trips of a lifetime and this is a must see. Had our group not been as large and diverse, I would have rated it a 5. We had unseasonably good weather and I can see why National Geographic rated Patagonia one of the top 10 most beautiful places in the world. The Active trip covers the highlights very well, without rushing the sights. Our guide Sebastian was a great ambassador for his country and I couldn't have asked for better. He is knowledgeable, competent, kind, fun and knows how to handle a vast array of personalities and abilities - letting each traveler get the most out of their trip. I would highly recommend both Active and this trip in particular.

I really liked the kayaking and most of the hikes were great! The time in the buses was a little longer than expected because the roads do not allow for high speed travel.

Rimu trip was clearly designed for those who like challenges & a variety of activities. Guides Ken & Mel made this trip for me a pleasure & offered much support as well as local knowledge. Having celebrated a birthday during the trip made it even more memorable.

Fantastic trip for fit people of all ages. We were a group of 8 senior adults and the guides made the trip enjoyable for everyone, no matter what their level of fitness. I would highly recommend the Kiwi trip for anyone who doesn't want to just see New Zealand from the bus window.

We took the Rimu trip 9 years ago. This year we opted for the Kiwi and enjoyed it even more. It is an extremely well-designed and planned trip; perfect for active people over fifty, or those not into extreme activity. It offers a great sampling of areas in the South Island with day hikes of 2-4 hours. It had the right number of breaks on the longer drives. Every hike seemed better than the one before. Our two guides, Dave and Sally, were delightful and awesome. They worked extremely well together. Sally's cooking was truly gourmet, with everything nutritionally balanced and beautifully presented. It is difficult to pick favorites, but Milford Sound, Mount Cook and helihiking on the Franz Joseph Glacier had scenery beyond belief, and Punakaiki was so interesting. The hidden gem was the Kepler track. At several locations we had choices. The more scenic choices appeared to be the boat ride at Milford Sound because one can see so much more of the sound and more wildlife, the shorter hike at Okarito to the spot with three views, the hike to two lakes at Mount Cook and the peninsular hike at Kaikoura, (whale watchers only saw one whale). It was not possible for restaurants to live up to "Sally's kitchen", but the low spot was Hot Mama's restaurant. The tree top walk on the West coast was underwhelming and not worth the fee paid by Active. Everyone would have liked more time at Punikaiki.

I was diagnosed with a sinus infection the day before our tour started. I started to take antibiotics but was not up to my physical best when we started, but I pushed myself. Daniel was very accommodating and understanding. I left my hiking poles at the hotel where we met and Active New Zealand got them sent to me in Queensland. This is an examples of the reputation of your firm and employees. I highly recommend Active Adventures for any trip. Daniel took us to places in New Zealand that one can only see in pictures and travel magazines. My only regret is that we don't always have time to just take it all in, but have to keep moving. It is very hard to say what part of the trip I liked most. In one of the questions I stated that it was Franz Joseph Glacier, but the day we flew into the mountains hiked and took a jet boat back was really great too. I have something especially memorable for each day of the trip.

I could not have asked for a better trip! Being from a big city, I wanted an active escape into nature. The Active Condor trip provided all that and more. Our guide Sabastian was always going out of his way to ensure everybody was having a good time and that everything was seamless. This was a perfect trip for a single traveler. By the end of our two weeks we felt as part of a family and now I have friends from all over the world. A big thanks to everybody at Active for truly making this a trip of a lifetime!

An Active New Zealand Adventure trip is a wonderful way to see the highlights as well as some of the lesser known areas of New Zealand. From the first phone call, the staff of Active were thoughtful and helpful. Specifically, Matthew was very creative in getting our trip organized. Our dates did not align with any trip offered and he made it possible for us to join a trip in progress that suited our needs perfectly. Graeme and Kate were fantastic guides that made our trip unique and memorable; and they are both excellent chefs! Their enthusiasm and attention to detail made every day a thrilling adventure. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!
