Very much enjoyed the trip with the group and Jess, Jake and Ken. They definitely love their job and do a great job. More hot tubs at the accommodation would be a great addition.

I LOVED this trip, my first with Active Adventures. I would definitely recommend this trip! The 14-day itinerary was packed full of hiking adventures every day. I was blown away by how much of your beautiful South Island we saw in that time. On each hike we saw something new; the scenery from the bus was amazing too, so much green. Every couple of days, we were in another eco system with different plants and weather. I’ve never seen anything like “the bush†nor streaming waterfall hillsides. It’s very different from Idaho, where it Is very dry.
Some days were quite long, because of road closure and we had to go around the long way. That was exhausting, but not all days were like that. Another exhausting day was on the island when the 2nd trail was closed, so we had to detour to a steeper, harder trail to return to the beach pickup point. I think these detours were due to conditions.
I have never seen so much varied countryside in such a short time, and it's all breathtakingly beautiful. Kudos to the people who set up this itinerary. Wow! We would never have seen so much country from the road ourselves; the trails brought us in close.
Our guides, Jess N. and Jake were outstanding. Their passion and love for this country and the outdoors shows. I don't know how they did it, but they both gave us 200% every day, way beyond my expectations. They both have such a positive attitude and encouraged us every day. I don't know how they did it (well, they're much younger than us!). They told us stories and legends about the area we were in, the names of plants and birds, the places they love, the animals New Zealand is trying to eradicate (although I don't agree with getting rid of deer). The meals Jess prepared were great (and she took care of all the special dietary needs, no small challenge). There were many kind, caring, thoughtful acts, like loaning rain pants when they were needed, and finding a wind-blown hat that sailed off the bridge. Jake took good care of our van, “William†and properly cleaned and sanitized it regularly and especially when someone became ill. Handling all the luggage was no small feat. They both genuinely love what they do. I was sad when they left us at the airport.
I was a little concerned that I might have trouble keeping up, depending on the age of group members. I was pleased to see that all guests on our trip were in our age group. I wasn’t as fast as some, but I took many photos and walked at my own pace.
Jess and Jake make a wonderful team, sharing the workload and making things run smoothly. It seemed effortless on their part, but I’m sure it was due to careful planning an much behind the scenes activity on their parts.
I was pleased that covid vaccines were required before this trip; we did have an outbreak. The person involved was provided a place to isolate and was able to rejoin us later.
The drive to Millford Sound was like something out of a fairy tale. I have never seen so much water; the hillsides were pouring, streaming rain, waterfalls everywhere you looked. Jake and Jess said they had never seen so many waterfalls as that day. My photos aren’t so good, because of the rain, but it’s unforgettable. While on the ship at Millford Sound, we all took videos of the big falls until we were soaking wet!
My least favorite thing was kayaking (my first time). It made my back hurt, but the view of the mountains while in the kayak was amazing.
This trip had amazing planning; the execution was excellent. The people really make the trip. Thank you for caring and sharing!
One suggestion: give a small card to each guest with phone numbers to call if there are problems, to carry with them always. We were told to call the main number for Active Adventures in NZ, but my paper with that information was in the suitcase on the trailer. We had 2 people that became ill at different times; we didn’t know where Jess and Jake were staying, sometimes off-site. A card that is carried with you would be a big help.

I can't say enough great things about our guide Jessica and the Condor Trip as a whole. We had plenty of adventure and hikes but it was organized in a way where we never felt like we were pushed too hard. Jessica was so thoughtful and the other guides were top notch. Not to mention the people on my trip. They were all incredible!

Awe-inspiring views of the South Island. River, green meadows, mountains and waterfalls in every photo- in every town we visited. Much better in person to view then viewing a video or post card. Clean air and quiet sound of the wind in the green countryside. Hiking, biking, kayaking, jet boating, small plane, paragliding, waterfall swimming, river swimming to boat riding in the fiord. Much activity to keep each day adventurous. Small group setting was awesome for agile traveling and group dynamics and company. The two tour guides Ruby and David were top notch, professional, squared away logistically for every detail and a pleasure to be around and learn about the South Island.

Our party of four had an excellent trip with our guides Zac, Julian, and Richard across Argentina and Chile. Patagonia speaks for itself in terms of beauty, adventure and culture, but Active Adventures takes all the stress away from planning and executing a flexible itinerary. Our trip was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, delicious meals, and meeting local guides who quickly became friends. Can't say enough about how great Zac was in taking care of us throughout our adventure!

We really enjoyed this trip--our first visit to Northern Patagonia. Zac was a great guide and all the other local guides along the way were good, too. It was very comforting to know that they were taking care of all the details so that we could relax and enjoy the incredible scenery. Everyone went out of their way to insure that we were all having a good time.

The Condor trip to Patagonia was truly a wonderful experience. Although the trip was quite expensive (especially for those of us who don't earn in USD!) I booked it with Active Adventures because, where I would be out of my comfort zone, I knew you would have my back!
The hiking was challenging but manageable, and certainly worth the effort! Day after day we saw the most amazing and beautiful scenery. The Guides made the experience all the more special by also telling us about the plants and wildlife in the area. In particular, Cem, our tour co-ordinator, seems to be the ultimate Condor spotter. Seeing those magnificent birds was super-special.
Of course, for part of the trip we stayed in refugios, which provided suitable accommodation and food for tired and hungry hikers. When we stayed in hotels, they were all comfortable, and the restaurants selected did not disappoint.
You certainly do know how to choose tour leaders! Cem did a superb job. The logistics were never an issue - he made everything just work out well. Even when there were obstacles - like the National Park Rangers in Chile going on strike - Cem made a plan. Nothing was too much trouble for him - he worked hard to make our trip very special.
Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

It was great to finally get have the trip after a two year delay. The trip was everything I expected. This was my 6th trip with Active and the the third trip when Dan was one of the guides. As usual the the trip was paced perfectly and Dan always had a plan b ready to adapt to any changes. If you are looking for a mix of cultural and activity this is the trip. The trip is not as strenuous as some but the opportunities to see day to day life and visit places beyond the tourist sites makes this trip unique.

As I’m sure you are aware, Pablo was fantastic. The attending staff, in particular, Pablo were also great. Attentive, good natured and friendly well beyond what I would expect on a trip like this. I saw and experienced much more than I expected to. I also gained some really great friends, including Pablo.

As with our previous trip with AA, the guides really make the trip ever so memorable. Of course, the places and scenery are what we initially are drawn to, but the guides put that special icing on the cake. We waited (through the covid years), to take this trip, and it was worth the wait! Nothing could have prepared us for the enormous educational experience we received - about Patagonia itself (how it was formed, how it is preserved, the environment and more), about the countries of Chile and Argentina, about the explorers and history that helped for establish the area, about the people who live and work in this 'rather hostile' environment at the tip of the Americas. Our eyes were filled with spectacular vistas every day, our knowledge of the area was increased with every question and information provided by our guides, and our hearts are full, with a love and appreciation for the peoples and cultures that inhabit Patagonia, South America.
The scheduling and transfers were brilliantly executed, with a few 'rest' days between longer harder treks. The food provided was excellent in every way (well maybe the lunches were a little too large), and we really appreciated the different restaurants that our guide, Cem Inal, took us to. He is a 'gem' for real - you are so fortunate to have such an amazing person working for AA.

This was my fifth trip with Active. I am a solo traveler and I feel as soon as I am greeted by the guides and step on the bus, I am well looked after. I have met fantastic people and hiked the most glorious treks. The accommodations are comfortable and in most cases exceed expectations and the meals are delicious and respectful of food preferences. The itinerary captures the best of New Zealand.
I expect I will be traveling with Active as long as I can put one foot in front of the otherðŸ˜

For those wishing to hike where many other don't, the trip to Mount Everest Base Camp will certainly take you off the normal trails. While smooth walking at times, most of the trip will challenge you with rocky sections, steep sections, and even dusty sections as pack animals come and go. The tea houses add to the adventure with rustic accommodations and not-so-many comforts. The views are incredible, the people are friendly, and seeing first hand how hard living conditions are for the local population is humbling. Even if you don't use your camera often, you will have many great images in your mind that will be unforgettable. Forget your phone and the internet and get lost in one of the great outdoor adventures!

    The entire trip was amazing!
Our coordinator and guide Alvaro was excellent. His experience really shines through at every moment, very professional, organized, caring, knowledgeable and just an all around great guy!
Our accommodations were top notch, clean, comfortable, well located and quiet. Alvaro's restaurant picks were varied and showcased the best that Patagonia had to offer.
Our guides on the trip were simply the best, local knowledge is the key to a safe, fun and interesting time on the trail: Victor, Camilla, Luis (spelling?) and Julie were all outstanding.
I was a single traveller and had a great time meeting new friends, at no time did I ever feel alone!

Patagonia has been a trip of dreams for me, and the experience did not disappoint. It was a wonderful view of a pristine, remote and absolute gorgeous part of our world. Nature was at its finest, and the guides for our trip were sharing their countries non-stop. I learned so much about the geography, fauna, flora, culture and appreciated the beauty of this area through their eyes and stories. It gave me a taste to come back and do the W-trek or the O-trek some day!

This trip gets better as it goes along! The itinerary was incredible - it exceeded our expectations. Even with rain, it was warm enough to enjoy the hiking thoroughly. (We brought what was suggested in the gear list and were prepared.) The accommodations allowed for us to spread out and organize at every stay. You don't have to worry about nutrition, and the food was incredibly good - so satisfying; we always looked forward to meal time! We are so blessed to have been able to finish this 14 day trek and our age; I never thought it possible, and we would do it again in a heartbeat. It was truly the trip of a lifetime!
