I've been waiting to do the ABC trail for a decade and I had a such a great time with Active Adventures doing it. The guides were personable, fun and friendly. Everyone in our group was also great. We got along great and had lots of fun together in addition to the hike being amazing. It was easily the most beautiful trek I've ever been on.

This trip was our 2nd with Active and just like the first was really well organized and gave us an excellent all encompassing experience of Northern Spain and the different trails of the Camino de Santiago. Our guide was wonderful and we experienced truly special days full of beauty, delicious food, cultural exposure and tranquility.

A Trip of a lifetime!!! Thank you, Zak
Your years of experience and love of Peru truly made my adventure experience better than I had dreamed
Your timing for our hikes avoided other larger hiking groups, yet we met wonderful local people.
Very emotional to reach the top of dead womans pass... I can do this.... only because the pre training, family support, and
encouragement from you Zak I did my part but you helped me "Kiss the sky"
I loved our special morning before heading to Machu Pichu, my sunrise Yoga experience at Winaywayna allowed me to soak in the Peace of completing this physical adventure with family
Big thanks to William and our Amazon trip, Your knowledge on birds was amazing
Thank you again for helping me achieve a dream
18 month post surgery Lung cancer survivor YES I CAN!!!

What an adventure the Tour du Mont Blanc trip was for us. My husband and I had been looking forward to this trip for three years and it did not disappoint. We loved being outdoors and active throughout the trip and found it challenging but fabulous! Our four female guides were top notch, knowledgeable and kept us safe and were fun to be around. Their attention to detail was appreciated along with their after lunch delicious snacks and surprises throughout the trip. We enjoyed the meals and small towns and would have been okay with one more additional day to explore on our own, especially the town of Annecy, France. Having a day to kayak and mountain bike were nice additions to the hiking. Active Adventures from the beginning and throughout the whole process was organized and easy to work with and we would definitely look to take future active adventures with them again.

The trip went quite well overall, and the major objectives were achieved with only a few snags, which is not bad considering this was the inaugural trip after an almost 3-year hiatus. The scenery is unparalleled and like nowhere else on Earth! For mountain lovers, that consideration is enough by itself to justify the trip regardless of caveats. The trails are steep and busy (like a popular United States national park), but are well maintained. The teahouses are an interesting accommodation style. Traveling to Nepal is not for the faint of hear however, since the aforementioned accommodations are somewhat primitive; be ready to rough it even tho there's walls and a roof. Food is simple but healthy, and avoiding sickness is much easier than some guidebooks claim. The mix of Hindu and Buddhist culture is amazing!

Okavango Delta Safari

The trip to the Okavango and the active adventures group was absolutely awesome!! All of the guides were outstanding. I have absolutely no complaint on anything there. We had expected to see wildlife, but the amount of wildlife we saw and how up close we were able to view them was overwhelming! The first camp we stayed at with Benson and other guides were outstanding accommodations! A very upscale experience and appealed to a type of safari that royalty might experience! They were very patient and were very informative on our continuous barrage of curiosities! They worked very hard to find the wildlife and get us a great viewing opportunity! The lodges we stayed at were very nice and comfortable. The Kayak part of the journey was in my opinion, a much more rugged experience with John as our guide. I really liked that! To me it was almost like a throwback to a bygone era when a safari was a primitive experience with the cooking over the fire and camp style meal! I actually slept best at this camp! The kayaking was a wonderful experience, that made me feel close to the nature but yet at its mercy! I found John most interesting and regretted not having more time to get to know him better. The river boat sunset ride adventure was most enjoyable and I found it very interesting and once again felt like a throwback to a bygone era of safari style adventure! The walking safari on the island with the Mokoro and with Big IzzI was very informative and a change of pace for the adventure! I was overly impressed with the efforts put into a celebration of my wife’s birthday at this camp. The locals were so friendly and a big shout out to dipsy for his generosity in allowing us to see his home! The Victoria falls Ilala lodge was just fantastic and that part of the trip was a great ending that made us feel like some kind of royalty!! The staff at all of the lodges were very friendly and helpful! The various bush flights and boat rides to different locations added even more to the experience, with a fresh new adventure around every corner! The only negative experience I could mention was one that was beyond Active adventures or any of the guides control! We unfortunately had one guest in the party who in my opinion had no business being on a safari and through their incessant complaining, continuous rudeness, disrespect and mean spirit towards the other guest I felt threatened the success and safety of the trip! Once again Active adventures was first rate and promptly took care of the situation by having the offensive guest removed and sent home! That very much impressed me! Last but not least IzzI was great to be around and experience Africa with! He had a tough job and handled everything with professionalism! His knowledge of the wildlife was quite impressive! I am sure there are people and events not mentioned here, but there was so much to the trip that was awesome it is tough to encompass all!

It was my first time to the alps and I had no idea how beautiful they would be. The entire trip was picturesque with all the small villages/towns nestled in between the mountains and I could not get over all the glaciers. Just fantastic. It was a thrill when we hiked from France into Italy and then down to Courmayeur. Couldn't get over the change in temperature as we hiked over the pass from Italy into Switzerland. It started snowing and it was mid-September. It was very beautiful and short lived once we started descending.
Courmayeur and Chamonix were my two favorite places! The scenery was breathtaking and I will definitely be back to do more hiking in the alps!

This was our first trip with Active Adventures, and our family of four agree it was one big adventure! Reaching the top of Dead's Woman's Pass during day 2 on the Inca Trail was a very strenuous and emotional event and would not have happened without the support and advice of the entire Active Adventures team: personalized fitness plans (we trained over four months); acclimating to the high elevation (we listened and arrived in the Sacred Valley four days before our official start just to acclimate (and took our time taking in the town, Inca sites, sampling Peruvian food and culture; and following the advice of our wonderful guide, Zacarias by hiking at a slow steady pace. Zac was not only attuned to our group needs, but he went out of his way so each individual had a unique experience (bird watching, photo opportunities, Inca site explanations, meeting local people, helping with spanish translations, knowledge of the jungle, etc. He seemed to know everyone on the trail, and everyone in Cusco. Truly amazing intuitive guide. We were very fortunate to have him.
After seeing all the different tour groups at the various campsites, we began to appreciate Active Adventures even more - ie: very few groups (if any) had their own 'rocket' tent with portable toilet in their campground.
The food was amazing both in Cusco, in the Sacred Valley, on the Inca Trail (they even baked a cake!), and in the Jungle lodge. My wife and daughter had special dietary needs and Zac coordinated with all the cooks to make sure the food was properly prepared.
We were not sure the jungle portion of our trip would be as exciting as the Inca Trail - but we all learned so much and now very grateful for this portion.
No real 'negatives' nor would I suggest anything different. However, We were very tired after hiking Inca Trail and exploring Machu Picchu and didn't get back to the hotel until after 8pm. Could have used more 'down time' before leaving for the jungle the very next morning. Then when returning from jungle, it was raining in Cusco and flight was diverted to Lima until rain stopped and we could return to Cusco. (ugh - extra 5-6 hours on the plane), but it was all part of the adventure :)
Overall, a very gratifying exciting adventure. Thanks so much. Looking forward to another trip.

I recently returned home from the Jaguar Trip in Peru and am now processing this remarkable experience. My most significant memory/reflection is how very special the guides and helpers were. I especially need to highlight Wilson Escalante who continually went above and beyond to provide me a unique and memorable experience. He genuinely cared about me personally... not only around the quality of the experience but also about my health since I was having some issues with altitude. He provided not only the usual explanations of the various sites we visited but went deeper into the spiritual understanding. Being a native Quechuan speaker, he was able to open the hearts of the various Andean villagers we met along the Lares Trail. I felt like I leave with an intimate connection with the village people but also with the ancient Incas. The days in the Amazon were also special. Pepe's knowledge of the flora and fauna is encyclopedic! But more than that, one can sense his love of the jungle as well as his desire to convey this love and understanding with the rest of us. This is likely my last "adventure" vacation. Truly it was a fitting climax to the 5 trips I have had with Active Adventures.

Kilimanjaro was the goal, but even if the top was unattainable, meeting and getting to know the Tanzanian guides, chefs, porters and crew was the best part of the trip by far. Their work ethic, kindness, and genuine smiles made the trip spectacular. When you are serenaded acapela in Swahili towards the summit by the teams on the mountain under a full moon, you can do anything. Thank you to Bonaventure for your guidance and choosing the right camps and to Dan for his easy and always accessible manner for any concerns. You do not want to miss a chance to do this trip and go to Tanzania, whether you do a safari and feel the top of Kilimanjaro is for you. Just go...

An amazing experience - loved being in the Delta after coming from Kruger - just a different experience even though a lot of the wildlife was the same.
