Superb guide Alvaro, who was assisted by the girls Andrea & Paulina. Views were amazing, climbs fairly direct and by that I mean nothing under almost vertical 😂. However the hard climbs didn’t take away from the adventure. The accommodations were all different, the domes had to be my favourite! Even though I managed to pick up a hip injury on day 1, everyone was amazing & gave me great encouragement. Just another amazing trip from Active

We were very happy with our Condor trip. All aspects of the trip were well organized and our trip leader, Gustavo, was outstanding. All the local guides were friendly, informative, and helpful. The scenery and food were amazing and the hiking was challenging but doable for anyone in good hiking shape. And we got lucky with the weather - no rain for the entire two weeks! We would definitely book another trip with Active.

Wonderful hiking experience taking in the breathtaking views of Patagonia. Our main guide Alvaro was outstanding and so too were our local guides. Very experienced and knowledgeable and they all worked extremely hard to make this experience the best possible. This was our second trip with Active Adventures and certainly not our last.

Active is the appropriate word for this trip.It was a treat to not worry about anything for 14 days except for what to wear the next day.

Our Patagonia trip was an amazing trip. It was well organized, had beautiful and stunning scenery, we had incredible weather, the activities all enhanced my experience, the bicycling, kayaking, and hiking all provided real engaged opportunities to experience Patagonia. The trip leader and local activity guides were welcoming, personable, knowledgeable, professional and accommodating.

I tell the people back home that I invented a new word: unexaggerable. The landscapes, the people, the guides were extraordinary. Greg and Steve were always ready to go the extra distance to meet our needs.

I was quite nervous about this trip, as I knew I wasn't completely up to the fitness level that would be needed. What surprised me most was how accommodating our trip leader (Mayra) was, and how carefully she coordinated things so that there was something for everyone to do at the level best for them. I was fully prepared to stay back at the hotel during the most challenging hikes, but I never had to do that. There was always something that I could participate in. Overall the trip was simply fabulous. We had wonderful food, interesting places to stay, great places to see without hordes of other tourists in the way, excellent guides who were knowledgeable and helpful, and great weather! :)

Our first trip to NZ was made all the better by the Active Adventure trip. Our guides- Kim and Ruby were enthusiastic, helpful, funny, knowledgeable, brilliant, experienced, encouraging, sympathetic (to old peoples aches and pains), professional and great cooks. The scenery, trails and landscape of NZ are well known. Being able to experience that with guides who love the outdoors with the kind of reverence they both showed is a special treat. The trips were well organized, a good challenge for the 60 somethings but not 'too much'. The meals were delicious - our favorite was the one Ruby cooked. Thanks to two lovely young women for making the beautiful south island that much more wonderful.

Rimu was such a spectacular and awesome trip. Enjoyed every minute! Especially the variety of activities - hiking, biking and sea kayaking (Marlborough Sounds stands out - truly spectacurlar!)
Koru and Irene were both wonderful guides! Full of knowledge, experts on what they were doing, and going the extra mile for us! The itinerary for the Northbound trip is excellent - each day seemed better than the day before (and the first day already was awesome, but it just became better and better). I was truly amazed how everything worked out so seamlessly and when, even if Mother Nature somehow interfered, a Plan B was produced.
Sea kayaking Marlborough Sounds was one of the highlights and truly spectacular - the guys from Sea Kayak Adventures are awesome!! Wonderful guide (Gareth), couldn't have been better! And Aaron an awesome overall guide. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail was so inspiring! Also, they did sll the work, all we had to do was to enjoy the kayaking (which we all did!)
Another highlight was Braemar Sheep Station - such a beautiful place, it will always be in my heart! It's remoteness made great stargazing possible, especially on my night sleeping outside directly under the sky - many thanks to Koru for making it possible, it made my day (or rather, night) and I will always remember it!
Overall, a truly awesome trip of the South Island!

I did the first half of the Kauri trip and it was a truly wonderful experience. Claire and Holly were the best guides. Claire is an excellent leader, safe and always very competent driver, and gave deep insights about NZ history and culture. Holly is a brilliant cook, always using many herbs, and always going the extra mile to meet everyone's special needs or wishes. And, most importantly, both were huge fun! In addition to being great guides on the trip, they also gave lots of great and spot-on recommendations for the free day or other parts of the country to visit.
The trip itself was full of wonderful experiences and a wonderful combination of activity (especially hiking Cape Brett), spiritual insights into Maori culture (especially visiting the Lord of the Forest) and epic scenery and fun (snorkel day and sandboarding) - in short, perfect! The accommodations were great. I was amazed how well everything was organised and came together seamlessly. In short, six stars out of five!

Perfect for the reasonably fit. The hikes were not strenuous, but long enough for good exercise. A great way to see most of NZ South Island without the burden of planning the travel details.
