This was a fantastic trip with so much beauty day after day. Not having been here before we were stunned by the majesty and space. The guides were informative, friendly and entertaining. Alvaro looked after us so well and our small group became friends in no time at all. Food was delicious and abundant with a good variety of interesting restaurants. Highly recommended as a trip full of varied activities, places and friendly people.

Great experience beginning with the corporate crew helping us with preparation thru the guides who were outstanding. Much better experience for us than the Mont Blanc trip last year ( which I feel was due to the local Chamonix guide) - most notable change was the opportunity to order our meals off of the menu.
Our guides were outstanding - which seems to be a common occurrence with Active trips. Local guide was very knowledgeable and offered historical points of interest with every drive.

How to improve- 1) Make it clear the approximate drive times daily - I was not as prepared as I could have been to spend the time productively. 2) go ahead and make some restaurant recommendations for the free nites in Queenstown. These establishments require reservations be made - which requires advance planning.

This was our third Active trip - and after a less-than-wonderful experience on the Mont Blanc trip (see above), I am very likely to look at another Active trek in the future.

I had no expectations of what I would see, feel, share or learn on this trip. This trip brought me to places I would never go on my own. The camaraderie in the group gave this trip an extra special experience . Our guides were so helpful with answering all of my questions about New Zealand. From day one I knew this was going to be a special trip for my husband and I.

The only thing better than the endless superlatives that I could supply about the beauty and grandeur of New Zealand was the impeccable care supplied by our guides, Holly and Emma. What a power duo of knowledge, fun and wit. I cannot speak more highly of their performance.

We just returned from our five day trip on active adventure’s “Great walks of New Zealand.†To say that it was an extraordinary trip would be an understatement. We have traveled both individually and in groups all over the world, including Europe, Patagonia, South America, etc. I can say, with all honesty that this was one of our favorite trips that we have done. The natural beauty and hospitality of the people of New Zealand is immeasurable. I cannot say enough about our guides, Dan and Natasha. They were consummate hosts who took great care in looking after each individual guest. It was evident that they were thrilled to show off their beautiful country. They are commentary and descriptions, very much accentuated the places that we visited. The trip not only included fantastic guides but also comfortable accommodations and good meals. The itinerary was well laid out and accommodated individuals with different abilities.

I can’t say enough good things about the trip. The views were overwhelmingly beautiful. Our guides, Holly and Emma, cultivated a lovely home environment while we traveled here and there and everywhere. The food was great, I learned so much about the country and the culture and the environment. I feel very fortunate to have gotten to travel with them and the rest of our group on such a fun and adventurous journey.

Two great leaders made this trip special! The trip started in rain but with high spirits, and soon the sun was shining. Varied activities stretched most of us, but no complaints for that. Poor weather meant that activities in the Bay of Islands were cancelled which was disappointing. Replacement was good but would have preferred an alternative on islands or in the bay rather than going back inland for a walk.

I really don’t even know where to start! I formed a pre-trip impression from reading the itinerary, and my expectations were set based on that. Well, my expectations were simply blown away! The actual experience so exceeded the description in the itinerary! What we saw, what we did, our companions, our guides- it was simply amazing! New Zealand was amazing! The people were amazing! Elize, Holly, Kayla and Lisa were fantastic! The trip was extremely well organized. Our guides were caring, knowledgeable, and incredibly hard working. They honestly did everything in their power to make this adventure special for us! Thank you Elize, Holly, Kayla and Lisa, and thank you Active Adventures for the trip of a lifetime!

This trip honestly exceeded all of my expectations. I was the only one in the group that came on my own but after the first day I did not feel that way at all. Every aspect throughout this trip was very well communicated and presented to us.
I always felt that my personal comfort and experience was most important. The scenery, geography and history of this part of the world is amazement around every corner. I feel that for the time available we experienced a wide variety of sites, history and experiences. The Refugios and hiking of the W trek were great to experience. It was also nice to get back to the wonderful accommodations and meals that were supplied by Active Adventures when we were not on the W trek for both the Chilean and Argentinian portions of the trip.
The professional and friendly guides and drivers certainly added to the experience with their combined knowledge and ability to work with the large number (13) in our group to ensure that everyone was hiking and moving along at a comfortable pace for them.
Our main guide Gustavo who was with us for the entire 14 days certainly made the trip for everyone.
His relaxed personality and infectious laugh and sense of humour always made everyone feel at ease. His comfortable command of the english language was particularly important with our group as I was the only one who knew any amount of Spanish. Gustavo knew when to keep things light and entertaining but was always there to be serious when needed and to make sure everyones needs no matter how small or large were properly attended to. There were a couple of injuries through out the trip that required outside medical attention as well as smaller situations that were taken care of in house. In either case Gustavo did what he had to do to accompany, assist and translate for those persons to ensure that they got all of the care that they required. I think I can say that Gustavo made everyone feel that he was there for them personally. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone that is looking for a great "Active Adventure" while being treated to some high end accommodations, meals and personal attention at the same time. I would add that the W trek is a great experience and I highly recommend it but is not nearly at the same level as the accommodations and meals supplied by Active Adventures directly. This was also clearly stated in the Itinerary preceding the trip so there was no surprises. For anyone that this part does not appeal to and would prefer to experience this area by staying in a nice Hotel, eating in nice restaurants for all meals and doing day trips should strongly consider the add on option B instead of the full W trek option A. Two members of our group went this route and had a great time as well with their own personal guide for the 5 days. Thank you Active Adventure for a wonderful experience all round.

I can't say enough about how great this adventure was - in spite of the weather gods throwing their worst at us between storms and cyclones of the century. We traveled through some of the most beautiful landscapes of New Zealand and biked some of the most rugged terrains. All of this was possible because of the planning, love and support of our 3 guides - Lynette, Olivia and Sarah. Our group congealed quickly under guidance and encouragement and their hard work filled in all the details that allowed us to fully focus and enjoy the daily biking and hikes and soak in the rugged beauty of New Zealand.

Had a great time. First 5 days were excellent then a Cyclone hit so for 3-4days we had to do alternate less active things. Also could not do the Tongoriro Crossing. Can't control the weather. The Guides did a great job getting us out of harms way and finding interesting activities. Still had a fabulous time and learned a lot about Maori Culture.

I thoroughly enjoyed the South Island Adventure! We got to experience a variety of hikes all over the south island and do some kayaking and cycling! I've traveled with other operators worldwide, and I could not have asked for better guides than Andy and Lisa. They were remarkable and did everything possible to ensure everyone in our group had a fantastic experience.

Liana exuded competence, whether at the wheel of the van or describing local flora and fauna and I felt in very good hands the entire time. Her deep knowledge and love of Maori culture shone through and was a delight to witness. Kayla was always ready with a smile, water, or encouragement. Very glad I did this tour, and did it with the two of them. The trip was well thought out and well organized.

The trip to Yellowstone was a great mix of wildlife watching, amazing scenery, and winter activities. Our two guides, Steve and Kathy, did a great job of letting us know what each day's agenda was going to be and that we had what we needed to have a wonderful day. It ranged from watching wolves and bison, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, to relaxing in a hot springs pool. They made sure everyone's needs were attended to and had options from which to choose. I really enjoyed all the different activities and the comradery that developed among our group. Thank you for an excellent adventure!
