My 14 day trip with Active Adventures was wonderful. We had the most amazing guides, Holly and Elize. They adapted to people's needs and listened to our feedback. And the food they cooked was as good as restaurants! I thought Active Adventures ensured that we saw and hiked a great variety of places, from golden sand beaches in Abel Tasman to places that looked like Juraissac Park to hiking across suspension bridges and seeing glaciers. I would love to go back to New Zealand and recommend Active Adventures.

What a wonderful way to explore the beauty of New Zealand's south island. The scenery was stunning, the activities varied, challenging and enjoyable, and our guides were exceptional in their care, attention to detail, going above and beyond our expectations. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We really enjoyed our Active Adventures adventure! The guides were great, as were our traveling companions. We have done several of these type of adventures with different companies and find this is usually the case. This may not sound like a great endorsement but it really is. This was a great company to work with before the trip, all questions answered very quickly, and the trip itself was well thought out and organized. The guides were very professional and personable.

Jackpot trip - incredible weather, guide Olivia is exceptional and a fabulous cook, Josh is masterful with the bus and trailer (and hefting our luggage) - both are wonderful humans. The scenery was diverse, as we were led to the NZ South Island "greatest hits" of trails, hikes, and Milford Sound cruise. The gravel roads are everywhere - so distances feel longer than they are. I brought pedals/clip-ins and was SO GLAD I did. We skipped the Franz Joseph heli trip - no regrets, but did NOT skip the Queensland Bungee jump - EPIC. If we had a do-over would do the 10 day trip. Exceeded all of our expectations!

My name is Stefania, l am a 55 year old doctor from Melbourne, Australia, l embarked on my trip to Patagonia to escape the pressures of day to day work, recharge and reconnect with nature. I travel extensively for both work and pleasure and my aim with the South American Active Adventures trip was to challenge my fitness and endurance, meet locals from both Chile and Argentina, experience their culture and meet like minded people on the trek. Unlike many in my group this was my very first hike which initially probably stressed my guide, Alvaro, but l endured and made it all the way to the finale!! I enjoy life and ALL my trips but this one will stay with me forever!Starting from the guides Alvaro (all 14 days) and Sergio (who joined us for the W trek) all the way to our drivers, our accommodation, the food and ALL my new friends on the trip, it was simply exhilarating. Alvaro had everything under control. I normally coordinate many of my trips but there was no need here. He was just brilliant - it all just happened without a glitch!! Sergio helped us do the challenging W trek. The expertise of both Alvaro and Sergio were noted as they safely guided us through the rough terrain. Both were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Visiting Punto Arenas, Puerto Natales, hiking the W then moving across to Argentina to El Calafate and El Chalten to hike Mt Fitz Roy were incredible adventures which l was lucky to share with a group that consisted of a multitude of personalities that embraced life and we all escalated the fun to a new level!! So many fun stories to tell: reading signs on the trek and allocating a different meaning to them, dancing Zumba at a refugio, singing and creating RAP songs to narrate our story. What an absolute blast!! Our accommodation was much better than what l expected. I did expect the refugios to be basic and they were. The food was amazing, in fact, it was plentiful and delicious. I am definitely booking in for another trip with Active Adventures as they encapsulate what we all should be doing with our life: STAY ACTIVE for as long as possible and be healthy. Well done!!

This was our third visit to New Zealand and by far was the best. We really feel we got to see and experience everything the South Island has to offer. We loved our guides and enjoyed traveling and hiking with like-minded people from around the world. We highly recommend this active adventure to anyone looking for a fun and challenging vacation.

My wife and I just completed the Ultimate South Island Adventure. We chose the hiking option with a couple nights in huts and this was a highlight for us. Being in the wilderness with our guides was a wonderful experience with some great memories.
We chose this tour because it took us to almost all the highlights of the South Island that we wanted to see and they did not disappoint. Our guides were wonderful with experience, stories, information and always there to take care of everything.
Things to keep in mind if you are considering this trip are that there is a fair amount of time in the bus and the non-hiking activities are brief. The guides stop the bus frequently for bathroom breaks and sights, but there were a number of days where we spent 3+ hours in the bus. The kayaking and biking portions were only a couple hours each. It was great to be on the water and on a bike, but we would have loved to spend more time on those.
Overall, we had a great time and were stunned by the scenery and the non-stop efforts of the guides.

Active Adventures is a very apt title. Wonderful experience seeing a significant swath of NZ South Island. Trekking/tramping/hiking to challenge even the very experienced.

A fantastic trip despite the rain at times. The places visited were well chosen with a good range of activities. So many highlights. Guides Lauren and Jon were fun, friendly, highly organised and flexible so that alternatives were quickly offered when weather interrupted planned activities. Any problems were quickly sorted.
