Great challenging hiking, beautiful scenery, lots of variety of activities, meals and accommodations. We really got to see and experience what life is like for locals in both Nepal and Bhutan. Dan was a tremendous trip leader and with help from local guides xxxx and Chunjur he adjusted our itinerary as necessary to take advantage of opportunities for festivals and local schedules. The small group of 8 travelers was the perfect size and the best group of people we have ever traveled with.

This trip is a wonderful experience for families. As a family we enjoyed sharing these many adventures. We kept very busy exploring the daily life of the rain forest. There was something to learn at every turn. Monkeys, small critters and an abundance of beautiful birds to study. Our guide Marco was amazingly talented at finding large and small life on the jungle and filling us in with every detail about their life besides facts about the vegetation and history of the land. As we transformed to the beach Marco managed to find us local treats along the was to stop and enjoy, the was really special . The beach activities did not disappoint and a truly great time was had by all.

Jeff and I enjoyed the family feel of the trip. We were amazed at the care take in preparing meals and yet it never seemed to get in the way of activities. I enjoyed learning about the flora and fauna of New Zealand as we hiked. The mountain biking was a lot of fun and felt magical at times underneath the pines. The cave tubing was invigorating and seeing the glow worms was spectacular! It was scary to jump of small waterfalls in the dark with the water rushing around and tugging at my feet, but the guides were very skilled at keeping the experience from feeling too far out of my comfort zone. They offered enough support for me to feel confident that I could do what I needed to do.

Excellent trip! We had the best guides, Jess and Jacob, who made the trip spectacular! They had just as much enthusiasm, energy, service above and beyond on the last day as they did on the first day!

The Active Adventure tour for New Zealand's North Island was an amazing experience both with the natural beauty of the country and with the culture of its people. I was surprised at how tropical the island was with its vegetation and climate. People who had been there incorrectly let me think that New Zealand was more like Ireland. It was actually a lot more like Costa Rica without the poisonous snakes and sloths. The geological phenomena driven by plate tectonic activity and the volcanoes was also a very new experience.
I highly recommend both the experience and Active Adventures as a tour company and guide to such a beautiful place.

The trip was as you would expect from a professional ,quality experience company like Active. However the staff ,Jess and Elyse made a huge difference .They were great communicators and down to earth about themselves ,which got the whole group chatting and laughing. I would recommend the company as the staff are a reflection of the effort and personality of the business

I did the Classic South Island trip, and it was amazing. The guides were fantastic and very knowledgeable and the food the excellent. This was my first tour so did not know really what to expect, this trip exceeded my expectations. There were a few hiccups along the way due to the weather and COVID, but there was always a plan B, C and D and so my choices on the trip were not really affected.
The adventure parts of the trip were within my limits, so I felt comfortable on the hikes, kayaking and cycling, although cycling on swing bridges with other people on the bridge was a challenge. As a beginner to tours this was a great way to start my future travelling overseas. Thank you

While the gorgeous scenery and exciting adventures were as wonderful as advertised, the real key to the epic trip was the personal touches and outstanding attention to detail of the small group guides we interacted with from Active Adventures. This was the perfect combination of fun and hiking we were hoping to have for ourselves and our 4 college-age kids.

Our guide, Jimmy was very caring and very knowledgeable. He really knew his birds and the nature of Costa Rica and was excited to share it with us. He showed great concern when one of us got injured and went out of his way to care for us. We felt like we were with a caring family member while traveling with him.

It was amazing how many animals we were able to see on our trip!! From sloths to crocodiles to hundreds of birds!! Our guide, Marco, was an amazing source of knowledge and was excited to share it with us!! We would not have been able to see 1/10th of what we did on our own.

We did the Tui classic south island adventure. So much to say!!!! Great trip and the guides are amazing! Just know you will have a bunch of van time since you see all parts of the island. not that bad, and plenty of bathroom stops. just know to expect it. Some Key Points: We picked the heli hike to the glacier and due to the timing of everything the time slot is the first in the morning and unfortunately, it gets canceled a bunch, about 33% of the time. You will get a refund but just know. they do always have a plan B, C, and sometimes D if the weather doesn't work with plans. We signed up for this trip a year out and COVID bumped it, and in the meantime we added our covid 19 LBS and got out of shape. The hikes are tuff and so worth it. just be ready. They send an exercise email, just do it. We opted for the overnight in the backcountry and didn't finish the hike to the lake. So sad, I hear it is awesome. but we did cover some amazing ground. We slept in the tent, which was nice since the hut was packed and we would have to deal with all the people in the same room snoring and all that jazz. It did add some stress to the logistics of packing and making sure you had the right stuff in the right spot when you joined up with the main group, but the guides will help as much as you ask. The bike ride is, is what I would count as a mountain biker learning course. I usually ride my beach cruiser in the campground. that's it. Just keep in mind shifting gears is really important, and it is a workout. Super fun too. There are 2 bridges that are wire held and will start to make a bunch of sways. The first one we all just went over right after each other and the last girl wrecked. The second, we waited for each person to go over, and we could keep our speed up, and was way smoother. FYI, if you want tattoos, I got one in Christchurch, and the wife got one in Queenstown. both are great but christ church is significantly cheaper. I want to say again, the guides rocked. We got the tip cash before the trip started, and I don't feel like I gave the girls enough. They really love their jobs and you can feel it.
