Our Galapagos guides, Pepo & Paolo, were excellent communicators and very well informed about the environment of the Galapagos archipelago and mindful of the human culture and environmental history of these wonderful islands. Excellent background on the sea life and how to conserve it for the future. I want to go again!

Loved this adventurous trip; we were a small group of 9 and all got along famously.
Our tour guide Pablo and his helper Paolo were a definite asset to this trip with nothing being too much trouble for either with answers to questions about culture, flora and fauna from Pablo were knowledgeable and well researched and many of his stories made each of the various endeavours entertaining.
The hiking and biking was excellent , not strenuous yet a little challenging at times, with good equipment provided and the necessary safety precautions adhered to.
Ecuador and the Galapagos islands are very safe ; there is little crime and great care was taken with the new Covid rules and I felt secure.
Food was always delicious with plenty of choice in all restaurants catering to special needs also; fresh Fish and Ceviche a definite must try for future travellers!
The accommodation was in lovely little boutique style hotels in all the islands visited, food was always plentiful and delicious with helpful service and we were made to feel welcome by all.
This land based trip for me, was the real way to see the Galapagos islands, it was full of activity and organized days with little time to wonder what to do next. It is definitely suitable for single travellers, I would not hesitate to travel with active adventures again. Thank you

All I can say is amazing!! This was my second time to do the Jaguar Trip and the last time was so great that I didn't think it could get better, but I was very pleasantly surprised that it did get better. The arrangements, the organization and the guide were great! Not a complaint one. Our guide Wilson, was such a great guy! He was so friendly, so easy to deal with, well organized and so incredibly knowledgeable! He really went out of his way to make sure we were doing good and enjoying ourselves. He even made sure we got the pictures we wanted and was great at suggesting pictures that would create amazing memories. The last time I went to Peru it was alone, but this time I was accompanied by my wife and son, and it was such an incredible experience for them to experience. Wilson interacted with my wife and especially my son as though he were family. In fact, when we parted it felt like family parting to all of us!

Just want to say Thanks on behalf of myself and Alan for providing us with such an awesome experience with this 'Takahe' Trip to Queenstown and Fiordland. Jon and Elder were just the best - knowledgeable, helpful, great driver (Jon),fabulous cooks, and all round good guys. We are grateful that Active Adventures kept our trip going, as we were aware there had been cancellations due to travel restrictions, but we felt pretty special and a little privileged to have just 4 of us being looked after by these 2 guys. The other couple were so lovely and we all got on really well. As for the hikes - well what can I say - every day was filled with stunning scenery, beautiful walks, and lucky for us, absolutely fabulous weather (every day!)

This is a very special trip. I've been to many world destinations and the Dolomites totally took me by surprise. The grandeur of the scenery is second to none. Every time I looked up from our hike, I saw a different and more spectacular sight. Also, the people we met were great and our guide, Richard, was the best!

I'd highly recommend this trip, BUT, get some hiking practice in before going. For experienced hikers, this is an invigorating trip. For those that don't adventure out much, this could be difficult. Put some time in before the trip and you'll have a wonderful experience.

The Pika trip was a replacement trip that my son Ted and I had originally planned for Bhutan in the fall of 2020, then Covid got in the way. The Pika Trip was completely up to the standards of my four previous Active Adventures trips(Dolomites, Nepal, Patagonia, Machu Picchu). Each of them was a trip of a lifetime experience and the Pika was no exception and it was right here in the USA.
The Austin Adventure guides (Alisa and Steve) were hardworking, accommodating, knowledgeable and flat out fun to be around. As all four previous trips were outside the US, I had found that international travel can be a bit tiring, however once in the hands of the guide(s) you could just relax and enjoy the new world. Surprisingly it was the same on this trip. Once we met the guides it was all “no worries”.
The food….well we ate like kings. If you have not yet had a buffalo steak…well I am long over due for another. The lodging?….a couple of our rooms were almost too nice for a hiking trip. This was NOT camping. :-)
And the scenery, do I dare say was spectacular. Photography is my hobby (some say disease) and the colors….oh my the colors.
Sooo, I am now 75 years old and had in mind that this would be my last Active Adventures trip. Am now rethinking that. All you young’uns out there who might be reading this, if you are debating, 75 comes around pretty damned fast. If you have the means, sign up. It is best way to maximize your trip, have a helluva good time and experience the world around you to the fullest. I guarantee it!

An absolutely fantastic trip. I cannot say enough about how organized and complete everything was. Pablo was a fantastic guide and his love for the Galapagos was evident. We also had the pleasure of having Paolo on the trip and he was terrific as well. I always thought that when I made it to the Galapagos it would be by boat. I am delighted and so happy that this was a land-based trip. I cannot say enough about how much my husband and I enjoyed this adventure. Thank you Active Adventures, Pablo and Paolo.

I felt so lucky to actually get away on a walking tour in these covid times. Revisiting places I hadn't seen for thirty years and getting back into the West Coast bush was pretty special. Our guide made everything seamless and achievable

Everywhere we looked there was something new and interesting to see. From the marine iguanas to the equatorial penguins, to the giant tortoises - we were surrounded by unique creatures and landscapes. This was on my bucket list, and now I know it was for a good reason. Simply amazing!

This trip was always a faint gleam of imagination in the category of: "would it not be great to spend some time on the Galapagos and ponder how Darwin landed on his insights." You can watch Planet Earth and read about it all but to see it with your own eyes is a feast that connects imagination with the real world. This land-based trip with emphasis on the word 'Active' gets you a little closer. And of, course, at the end of the day, all the comforts and a decent meal is there to be enjoyed.

Wonderful guide Richard took the 6 of us around the Dolomites safely and we had a lot of fun. Richard was solo guiding a group of different levels and made great efforts to accommodate us all. He was so knowledgeable and caring and full of interesting information. Loved the hotels and the food was amazing. We really got immersed in local culture. Loved hiking to the refugios and the nature was spectacular. We were very lucky with the weather and I would highly recommend Richard and touring the Dolomites.

The trip was wonderful – better than ever imagined. Snorkelling was the highlight of the trip. I never thought we would snorkel so close to sea turtles and with sea lions – it was fantastic. Walking near blue-footed boobies and their chicks and stepping around sea lions, it was unbelievable. We even got up close to white-tipped sharks. We had a group of 13 that went In September 2021, and it was a truly remarkable experience for all of us.

Loved this trip! What amazing breadth and depth of wildlife we saw while in the Galapagos from marine lizards and giant tortoises to all sorts of birds. Pepo and Paulo were amazing guides and had so much knowledge about the natural world and the Galapagos wildlife, climate and history. It was fascinating to listen to Pepo explaining about each island and what we'd encounter there or before each snorkeling experience what we'd find. He even took a video for us and sent it. Paulo really helped me out with my snorkeling issues and lack of being a strong swimmer. He took photos for me with my underwater camera. The hotels we stayed at were comfortable and well-chosen for amenities and location. Lastly, the other travelers were friendly and we all seemed to get on well. I'm actually planning to return on my own to see more of the Galapagos as one trip isn't able to do this place justice. Highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants an active adventure with wildlife.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 6 day experience with Active Adventures. The guides were fantastic, super-helpful and super-fun. We were well looked after and supported and the accommodation and food were great value for money and just what we needed at the completion of biking each stage. Oh, and the scenery makes the trip well worth it too :)

Amazing trip!! First, was the time of the year - late September/early October means cool days and evenings plus fewer tourists. It seemed at times we had the mountains all to ourselves. The tour was perfectly designed to combine tough hiking with climbs along with some downtime to relax and absorb the magnificent scenery. Optional hikes provided that extra workout which was rewarded with even better vistas. The refugios were the right balance between mountain rustic and luxury spa-like comfort. The food was outstanding at all the stops along the way. And of course, what really made the trip altogether wonderful was our guide - Richard - a local mountaineering specialist who was absolutely outstanding. Our trip was made up of folks with different backgrounds, ages, hiking experience, and physical ability and Richard made it work for everyone. He provided the historical context from the perspective of one who lives there and whose family has lived there for generations. This was overall, beginning to end, a great trip.

Fantastic trip- the landscape and trail was so different each day . The ride was never too challenging when you have the support of a group and good bikes. Loved the variety of accommodation - sheep station lodge to hotel - it added to the enjoyment . Guides Kim and Elder looked after us so well - cooked for us for two days, always had a full fruit and treats bowl on the bus, nothing was too much trouble for them. Feel a real sense of achievement at having completed the A2O Trail.
