This trip was amazing but a serious workout for this sea level dweller in her 60’s. The guides truly love their work and successfully accommodated all the varying ability levels. The group was just the best the Rifugios are so much more than the mountain huts I am used to and I have eaten so much food!

The tour of Mt. Blanc was truly spectacular! The tour consists of a great mix of hiking trails on some of the most challenging terrain in the Alps with stunning views of Mt. Blanc, combined with kayaking and mountain biking. Active Adventures did a stellar job organizing the trip and ensuring it was an experience of a lifetime. The trip gets a high rating on every score—challenging and exciting daily hikes with awesome views, mixed with culinary delights, and cultural tidbits. The accommodation was quaint, the restaurants were carefully selected to provide a unique blend of local cuisine and Michelin quality meals. The collaboration between Active Adventures and Chamonix Guides worked seamlessly. Every detail of the tour was thoughtfully planned while allowing some flexibility to changing weather and client preferences. We were fortunate to have an amazing local guide and a terrific assistant who made the tour highly enjoyable. The tour met and exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great adventure!

This tour offers challenging hikes most days through spectacular scenery, with a fun day of biking (eBike recommended!), and for strong hikers, the via ferrata for an exceptional thrill!
You will eat incredible food (and a LOT of it) and stay in darling refugios (more like mountain lodges) and fine quality hotels.
The guides are great and you will go home satisfied with fun memories of your challenging adventure (do be sure to train!).

A magical journey through magnificent landscapes led by Alisa and Steve; two of the best guides I have ever encountered. From CanyonLands to Zion, we enjoyed very good accommodations, excellent dining, wonderful snacks and special delights. This was a wonderful journey shared with lovely fellow travels. It was mighty, mighty good!

The trip was 6 days longs with many weather-related issues. Solvi our trip guide handled it professionally and very expeditiously. There were adequate stops, intense inactivity as described and on time. Will strongly recommend it.

The Coyote trip was a great way to see as much of the Grand Teton and Yellowstone as you could pack into 6 days. Every day was filled with some sort of adventure; we were able to see a great variety of wildlife and geological features. I enjoyed the hiking and biking and it was at a pace that was welcoming to all levels. It was really special to be able to stay within Yellowstone and at Jenny Lake Lodge and have incredible views and quick assess to the parks in the next days.

The trip was great and it was definitely an advantage having two vans. It would have been crowded and uncomfortable if the entire trip was done in one van or if both vans had all seats filled. On a trip with significant hiking every day you need an opportunity to stretch a bit after hikes, and that would not have been possible in packed vans.
Steve and Alisa make a really good pair - they complement each other very well.

The group of 12 with 2 vans worked really well, and I would not increase the number.
Having two vans allowed us to leave one at each end of some of the trails so that we did not have to back track. When we were on long drives, we could spread out and get more comfortable. Three hour drives packed in with three to a seat would not have been fun.
On the trails, a group bigger than 12 would have been cumbersome and disruptive to other hikers. As it was, we had to pull over sometimes to let them go by.

Very impressed with the guides, the logistics, and the sites visited. It was as well planned as my previous trip with Austin and the scenery even more spectacular.

I was pleasantly surprised at the class of accommodations on this trip. Exceptional. Especially Hotel Stores. Any foodie would appreciate the level of quality of the food as a 5-star dining experience, yet on a hiking trip. This trip during Covid times was safe at all times and any place we went was exceptionally clean and organized to handle our travel needs. As for the guides, they were full of information and I learned so much about the battles in WW1 and saw many Italian sites with remnants of the war. As for the adventure itself, there were many different activities included with awesome hiking and views. The cycling day was perfect as was the via Ferrata and caves day. Anyone who has been on a tour with Active Adventures in New Zealand (all of us on this trip had been), can expect the same level of pace, activity and knowledge and friendly staff.

Trip was outstanding. Both tour guys were great. I wish some of edge activities were a little longer, I think 7 mile bike ride for an adventure tour is too short but overall a GREAT trip and a great experience

Our guides, Matt and Joel, made the trip. They were outgoing, energetic and charming. They purposefully interacted with the trip participants providing ice breaker conversations and activities which helped to alleviate the initial awkwardness of traveling in close proximately with so many strangers. I felt this allowed everyone to relax and enjoy each others company very early on in the trip. In addition, their concern for our safety and enjoyment was genuine. They went above and beyond in a myriad of ways paying attention to small and large details working to meet the individual needs of each person. They executed the Austin Adventures itinerary with expertise, professionalism and many unique touches all their own.

Pictures of Iceland pale in comparison of seeing the real thing. Up close to waterfalls and icebergs - and puffins, lots of puffins!

The Stelkur trip around Iceland gave hearty servings of the history, culture, geology and ethos of this remarkable island. Sure, we all knew the island had volcanoes and glaciers, but I for one was not aware of the tremendous impact of glacial flooding on the island and its people. This trip hit so many high points that it was almost dizzying, from puffins and whale spotting to black sand beaches littered with remnants of icebergs, to seemingly countless waterfalls and glacier views, to vigorous and rewarding hikes, superb cooking by our guide, solitude on the hut to hut portions (we saw one other hiker during 4 days), tales of Icelandic heroes, trolls and elves. Our guide, Solvi, was a natural teacher, gifted storyteller and even sang us to sleep one night with an Icelandic lullaby. He surprised us often with little outings or touches that were not listed on the official itinerary and made us feel like we'd been let in on special secrets. We looked for kids rescuing young puffins who had not made it to water, tobogganed down a huge black sand dune, and snatched blueberries from the bushes that lined the trails as we hiked. There was magic in the air on this trip!
