Each day experiencing "highlights" of the various Fiordland trails over 4 days took me to my happy place as I love the walking but not the slog.

The trip was so well organized from the time we booked to the end when we were dropped off at the hotel. Both Matthew and Stephen took care of everything, got us to our destinations on time and their timing was impeccable on everything, meals (both hand made and timely reservations), park entrances, bike riding along the Colorado River, and our Hummer tour. Two top notch guides.

This was my third Austin Adventures trip and I have to say it was my favorite. AA always runs a professional tour, but this one was elevated by the scenery, the weather, and, especially, the guides

An excellent family and friends adventure. Eleven of us rafting and hiking and biking along the cliffs of the Colorado and the Utah desert with two reliable and accommodating guides.

Excellent, well-planned trip with excellent guides! The white water rafting excursion on the Colorado river should be avoided in the future, at least when the water level was as it was two Sunday's ago. In the lone Class 4 rapid, seven of nine men were thrown from the raft including our raft guide who was not an AA employee. I was pinned underwater under the raft for about 30 seconds while being pounded against the canyon wall. Closest I have ever come to dying. Plan to never go white water rafting again after that, and I had been several times beforehand. I realize there are risks with that sort of thing, but that particular rapid was very dangerous. Five of the 11 people in our party were traumatized at that spot and have vowed to never go white water rafting again. There was definitely something wrong with that spot in the river. Stephen, one of the AA guides, pulled me from the river back into the raft. If he hadn't when he did I might not have made it. My advice is to avoid that stretch of the Colorado river in those conditions in the future.

Absolutely loved the whole trip!! This is my 5th trip with AA and it gets better with each tour. The accommodations were very nice and I appreciated not having to move every couple of days. Our guides Stephen and Matthew were very knowledgeable, helpful and just plain fun! The lunches on the trails were superb and and the beautiful sights and adventurous excursions were exceptional. Really was an amazing trip.

This is the third trip we had with Active Adventures. As expected, the trip was run very smoothly: excellent transportation, nice accommodations in general, great local food, a variety of activities including biking, kayaking, hiking, snorkelling, etc. The best aspect of the trip is our guide Pablo. He is knowledgeable in everything about Galapagos islands: fauna and flora, geology, biology, human history, you name it. Pablo is extremely passionate about passing his knowledge and love to this magic land and its ecosystem to us. His assistant Paolo is great too. When the group hiked the Sierra Negra volcano on Isle Isabela Paolo carried an extra 5L drinking water and other stuff (e.g., snacks) to make sure no one in the group would suffer from dehydration. Together Pablo and Paolo made sure that everyone was safe and sound. Pablo's rich knowledge made the trip the most rewarding one.

The trip to Doubtful Sound and the overnight cruise was the highlight for me - enough rain to fill all the rain-dependent waterfalls but not enough to dampen spirits - spectacular! The small samples of three of the Great Walks were quite enough for my aged limbs. I probably needed more time to really enjoy them, the views and the flora.

We usually have an overseas adventure each year, but with international travel being curtailed in 2020 we were wanting something fun and different to do in New Zealand. The Takahe trip ticked all the boxes, we had a great time and in reflection we realised we don't have to leave New Zealand to experience new adventures.

You see how inconsequential our life is when being exposed to the Galapagos Islands! I awe of all of the birds, plants , and other wildlife that you can't find anywhere else in the world because of their adaptations to the Galapagos! Intrigued with everything that was presented to us! Wish I could remember every single word our Guide, Pablo presented to us!

If you think Ecuador, Galapagos Islands is just about the heat, greenery & plantains, you are in for the surprise of your life. We have been searching for a National Geographic Informative trip and stumbled across Active Adventures. I must have called at least 8-10 times with a variety of questions since the shut down and someone always and I mean always called me back within 24 hours with complete detailed information with the utmost aplomb. When we hit the islands, yes, it was hot but the guides and everyone were so accommodating. I have never met a guide (Pablo) who was so passionate, professional, courteous , knowledgeable , and patient with my millions of questions. I have a small travel diary and there is no way I can remember all of the information he bestowed upon our group. Our second guide was Paolo who stayed back to help the slower ones in our group (me). Both our guides made sure we were safe and as comfortable as we could be. If you are expecting beans, rice and tortillas on this trip, forget about it. The food was unbelievable. Well prepared and the presentation was always spectacular. Thank you for our bucket list Adventure. Will remember it always.

Initially, I was apprehensive about this trip as it challenged my riding endurance, technical skills and comfort zone. However, I knew there was the back up of a guide and the van. My goal was to keep up as best I could, take copious photos and not fall off the bike. Elder assured me that the bikes were designed for the skiddy gravel I feared and stayed with me at the rear of the pack on the more challenging parts on the big hill looking down on Lake Benmore. He was constantly cheerful and encouraging. Perhaps he is a saint in Real Life? I was advised not to try the 20km part of Rotten Tommy but still enjoyed an amazing helicopter ride. I met up with the group at lunchtime on Braemar Road (after a van ride with Ken, to pick up the salmon for our dinner feast) and completed the rest of the ride successfully. As a group we had a great deal of fun, stayed in comfortable atmospheric accommodation...my favourites were Braemar Lodge and The Brydone, Oamaru. We ate fabulous food. Our guides Elder and Ken are chefs supreme. Gourmet picnics appeared like magic, as we lounged on deck chairs. Cafes and coffee were abundantly provided for. Nothing was too much trouble for our guides. I am now motivated to try more challenging biking trips after this experience.

Is was a thoroughly enjoyable experience - albeit physically demanding and technically challenging at times for our 70 year old bodies. Our guides Ken and Elder were always on hand to assist, provide professional advice and local knowledge while ensuring our safety at all times. Their excellent culinary skills were an unexpected surprise. Overall we recommend Active Adventures to future cyclists to experience the A2O trail.

The Takahe trip is full of wonder, excitement and lasting memories. It boasts spectacular scenery every day, quality accommodation, comfortable travel and carefully balanced activities allowing energy levels to be manageable over five days. The guides are personable, knowledgeable, and great managers of the group dynamics with a mix of abilities and personalities. Full on days hiking with creative planning leads to happy and contented participants who come home to reminisce about the journey and its success. Thank you Active Adventures.
