We thoroughly enjoyed (almost) every aspect of our Alps To Ocean tour. Being fully supported made it easy to enjoy the cycling, scenery and adventure.
Our guides/hosts, Elder and Ellie, were professional, organised and friendly. We appreciated their work to make this trip exceptional for us.
The trail was good, but some parts were a bit rough and caused some discomfort - but that's to be expected after the rough weather as well as the fires that touched the trails a few weeks before we rode it. Pretty much 90% of the trail ride was excellent, with great surfaces and tailwinds once we left the mountains. Each day had its joys...usually, the greatest joy was getting off the bike seat at the end...but the scenery was stunning. The accommodation was great and the amenities met our needs. Being fully supported took away so much of the hassle of organising bag transfers and meals. We enjoyed getting to know our fellow cycle tourers and guides over the time we travelled together.
I definitely recommend the Whanui tour to anyone who wants an adventure and has a reasonable amount of cycle fitness.

This trip was fantastic. We took our two adult children and all of us had a fantastic time. We met another family that we will be friends with forever. We learned a lot about a part of the world we had never visited and got to enjoy so much of the culture and beautiful surroundings. Loved every bit of the trip.

I'm 25 and went on the Iguana with my parents and younger sister. At my age, these family trips are not necessarily a good time. But the Iguana trip was perfect in every way! They kept us busy, but we still had some free time where I could go off and do my own thing. The fellow travelers on our trip were also fantastic and someone else close to my age made it all that much better. Our guides were awesome and every place we visited was fabulous.

I went with my parents and older brother, I am 22, and we all had a great time. No family drama and no getting tired of each other, even for such a long trip. We met another family that we connected with that made the entire adventure even greater. I bet my parents will be friends with the other family forever. I hope we will even travel with them again.

Why hike the Himalayas? I am of an age when it is time to turn the bucket upside down and do the most challenging things on the list first. I am sure the double-decker buses of Dublin will accommodate my walker when I am 95. I can view the inside passage of Alaska from my wheelchair when I am 100. But if I am going to hike the Himalayas………..

This bike trip far exceeded our expectations. The trip was challenging in parts, exciting and ultimately rewarding at the end. Having e-bikes was a MUST and we were very grateful to use the excellent bikes we hired from active Adventures. Most importantly, our two guides, Ellie and Elder were so much fun, very caring, great cooks and Ellie a very skilled driver of the bus with trailer behind all the way. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail made the trip run like clockwork. Elder was so supportive as 'tail-end-Charlie' for the entire 300km and a joy to ride with. The variety of landscapes across such a small landmass made each new day's cycling a new adventure. From seeing snow-capped Mt, saturated turquoise waters of Lake Pukaki, towering cliff faces skirting Lake Ohau, a spectacular ride around Lake Benmore, to the joy of waves breaking on the Pacific Ocean at Oamaru and lots more. We indulged areas of the South Island not visible from travelling by road and biking made it possible.

This trip has left lasting memories of a beautiful part of our country. From start to finish our tour guides Kim and Ruby took care of every need in a no fuss, highly efficient and talented way providing a seamless and wonder filled experience. Everything was on time and managed to perfection...from daily departures, highly knowledgeable integrated nature discussions and culinary delights prepared and served by them....
The trip itself covered all the main areas of Fiordland. The overnight boat experience on Doubtful Sound was a highlight and we experienced mirror reflection perfect weather that even had the Captain out photographing. The walks were all very manageable and each different enough to provide the magical experience they promise.
I would most definitely recommend this tour.

As a novice tramper the Takahe 5 day tour challenged, excited and filled me with admiration for my home land, New Zealand. All the Great Walks of New Zealand tracks were different with the Ben Lomand track at the end of the trip, the 'gut buster' for me personally. The views and sense of achievement were worth it though. The moody Doubtful Sound was a true highlight and extraordinarily beautiful in the low cloud and mists. All the tracks were completely different in terms of the vegetation, views and level of fitness needed to complete them, but that meant you didn't get complacent about them. Sharing the experiences with our two wonderful, professional, friendly and encouraging guides was the icing on the cake. Kim and Ruby exuded enthusiasm and nothing was too much trouble for them. I'm sure our whole group put on weight, even with all the exertion during the day, due to Ruby's special home baked cookies and beautifully cooked and presented meals. Kim's in-depth knowledge of the areas we visited was exemplary. I also thought the professionalism of the booking staff prior to the trip itself was of a very high standard. I have no hesitation in recommending this trip to anyone and on only my first day back from the trip, am already looking at other Active Adventure trips I can do.
