The Tui trip was a great experience from beginning to end. The trip is busy but everyday brings something special in terms of landscape, local culture, physical challenges and great fun travelling with a group of likeminded people. If you want to experience some of South Island and New Zealand's great beauty then this trip should fit the bill.

This truly was an amazing trip. Every day a new adventure began. The guides were absolutely brilliant, they were so good at including and empowering everyone, despite some having reservations at times. The activities were quite a challenge but the relaxed but firm guidance gave everyone the confidence to ‘go for its. I felt safe at all times. The variety of challenges was superb, and when things didn’t quite work out as planned the alternatives always surpassed our expectations, didn’t feel like second best at all.

There is no doubt that the scenery of Northland New Zealand is magnificent, the Kauri trip took us to places that we probably would not have visited had we travelled independently. More than that though our guides Andy and Jo brought the trip to life with their pride in New Zealand and Andy's constant supply of information about New Zealand's history and culture, we learned more from Andy and Jo and the Maori we met than we ever would have from reading travel guides. Highlihgts for me were the Maori guide led evening walk in the Kauri forest, sandboarding in Hokianga and the beach and cliff walk at Mangawhai Heads. We travelled with a great group and had a lot of fun.

Tremendous trip, pushed me at times but that was good. The guides did a fantastic job, giving encouragement and making everyone feel safe. They were good at including everyone too. Each day had a different challenge and I felt satisfied every day.

Kiwi is ideal if your goal is to get an overview of the South Island. I loved the rain forest and mountain hikes. The winery & fiord kayaking was also fun. The trip had sufficient variety of activities that it should appeal to anyone with reasonably good health. After Kiwi, I am looking forward to doing some of South Island Great Hikes on a future trip. Active Adventures did a great job structuring the days for maximum activity. Our trip was also blessed with incredible weather.

Lauren and Lianna were experienced beyond their years and were so much fun!

This trip was an important milestone in my life because I learned that I'm much tougher and in better shape than I thought I was. I won't sugar coat this---it's a physically and mentally challenging journey, but Mel and Shree couldn't have done a better job motivating us, caring about us, guiding us, and encouraging us. The trip in its entirety was very well-planned and well-executed, and the little perks (gumdrop and cookie breaks) were fantastic. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention how wonderful the porters were. I highly recommend this trip and Active Adventures and look forward to my next adventure.

We had been looking forward to this trip for several years and we're not disappointed one tiny bit. It was a dream come true, from beginning to the end. Daniel and Irene were our guides and I feel so fortunate. Daniel was a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of New Zealand including some wonderful folklore story telling on the bus traveling from place to place. Irene's bubbly personality, cooking skills and eagerness to help were really appreciated. They really took care of us and were always smiling and making sure everyone was having a good time. I've already made "Pavlova" twice! Thanks Irene for your grandma's baking tips.
The Tui trip took us to so many beautiful places. The hiking, biking, jet boating, scenic flight, excellent guides, yummy food, laughter and fun filled days all shared with new friends made for a trip of a lifetime. Don't think twice about taking this trip with Active Adventure.Do it, you won't be sorry! Thank you! (side note..our trip ended coincidently the day New Zealand closed its borders because of the coronavirus.. I hope you are all safe and stay well)

Everything about the trip was great. The itinerary, the guides, the logistics, and our fellow travelers were all memorable. I'm so glad we chose to stay on the islands rather than on-board a ship. It allowed us to better experience the rhythm of life on the islands, as well as providing more time to explore on our own.

This was my first trip with AA and I throughly enjoyed it. I loved the fact that all our meals were included! Mayra was great at organizing our daily life, so organized! I felt all the extra guides and van drivers were so pleasant and organized as well. I would take another trip with AA, however not if it were more strenuous than this one.

We were so lucky to fit in this trip before everything closed down because of the virus. The trip was everything we could imagine and more. Of course the country is beautiful, but the way we experienced it made the time so special. Along the ocean there were beaches and cliffs and rock formations that changes so much from place to place. Our hikes varied from walks along the ocean to high in the mountains. We walked through forests that changed from place to place. We kayaked, road in boats, and even stayed on one overnight on Doubtful Sound. There was an ever changing beauty all around us.
We travelled in a van large enough to allow the 11 of us to spread out and be comfortable. The drives were never long and the places we stopped along the way were always interesting. Some stops were just to see the sights, but each day we had a chance to hike from 2-4 hours and get into the landscape. At night we stayed at different type of places, each was comfortable and interesting. The food was great and I can't say enough about our two guides. They were knowledgeable and quite interesting. It was nice being taken care of and not having to worry about anything (except when did they say we should meet?).
We enjoyed watching the seals and birds and being told about all of the different trees and plants in the various climates. This may not be the trip for hardcore hikers, but some of the trails were challenging. Where we went and what we did was all carefully planned to allow us to see and experience the very most we could in our 2 weeks. This is a trip we will not forget.

There is no words that can express my gratitude for our experience on the Tui Trip. I truly felt like we had the best guides available in New Zealand. Lauren and Liana were wonderful, accommodating, gratuitous and lots of fun. Lianas driving kept us safe and Lauren’s food kept us more than full. Their knowledge of the island and Maori legends were second to none and kept us amused on the whole trip. Then we were lucky enough to to have Fiona and Claire for a short time too! All such kind girls. And so strong and the only word that comes to mind is intrepid. I felt like I could conquer anything with their guidance. And we did. The Siberia hut experience, Ben Lomond, kayaking, biking, and Arthur’s pass. Lauren even wrote me a packing list for the Tongariro crossing that I was doing the week after. So safety conscious. We were so lucky to have such a fabulous trip. Also the whole booking experience with Tory and Ineka was great too. I will be back for sure.

Without prompting, we call it the trip of a lifetime. The South Island is beyond description, so there is a good base for the trip, but our guides went beyond the call to make sure we had the experience we had. Due to weather we missed our plane flight - but our guide managed to get us up for a sightseeing tour without compromising the remainder of the trip. And did I mention it was the trip of a lifetime?

You have asked if I could suggest some improvements for your adventure trip we took. I am having a very hard time coming up with anything. The efficiency was astounding. We did not wait for a plane, van, meal or hotel check in. Bags in our room when we entered. Food excellent, hotels excellent or best available in a very remote place. All we had to do was keep and open mind and have fun. The biggest treasure we found in the Galapagos Islands was our guide Pablo Valladares. Incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, engaging, and made everything a bit more fun.I never thought I would get excited about a plant but Pablo managed to make me see plants as world travelers. We did and saw some things I will never forget, too many to mention here. A few times we were very lucky to have things that normally don't happen take place like snorkeling with hammer head sharks, Galapagos sharks and eagle rays. I'm sure you have many excellent guides but my only word of advice would be to put Pablo in charge of each trip you do. We will be back to your company as soon as we are free to travel again.

The EBC trek was amazing...unfortunately, Covid-19 took off while we were on the trail and AA made the right decision to cut our trek short on Day 6 so that we could all get home safely.
The trip itself was AMAZING! ALL of our guides were extremely knowledgeable about the culture, wildlife and geography of Nepal and are passionate about the people and environment there. We didn't miss a thing as they took us to all the best vantage points to view every breathtaking scene. All the food was delicious and the tea houses were comfy and clean.
With the Covid-19 crisis, the whole team, our guides and the back office, worked hard to rearrange our flights back to Kathmandu and to help us with our flights home to make sure we all got out safely. When other trekkers were still going up, they made the RIGHT decision to get us home, despite the financial cost to themselves. They also took efforts to help the Nepali guides and porters who were losing their employment for the year due to the virus.
THIS IS THE TYPE OF COMPANY THAT EVERYONE WANTS TO WORK WITH BECAUSE THEY ARE LOOKING OUT FOR PEOPLE! I will always choose them for my tours in the future
