We had a spectacular trip. The hiking was occasionally challenging, but never beyond our abilities. The scenery was as expected, but still could take your breath away. Pictures alone could not capture the power and magnificence of the mountains or the pastoral beauty of the pastures filled with sheep, cattle and deer. Our guides, Holly and Pepper were suburb. Holly's knowledge of the flora and fauna helped to make our hikes come alive. Pepper's sharing of Maori culture and history deepened our understanding of why New Zealand is such a special place. To top it off, they were excellent artists in the kitchen. The food was great. The accommodations were always comfortable and fun from the funky A-frame cabins to an elegant 5-star resort. Our companions were amiable, easy to be with, and interesting. Our journey was all we expected and much, much, more.

This trip was excellent. We covered a lot of territory and really got a great feel for the south island. The multiactivity made this even more excellent. The variety of accommodations (huts, A frames, 4 star hotels) and locations (rain forest next to glaciers, pancake rocks, Mt. Cook on a clear day after being fogged in, all made for a unique experience.

Prior to this trip, I heard several people say the South Island was "the best to tour". Boy, were they mistaken! The North Island is full of Maori history, beautiful hikes, lovely temps, and fantastic paddling, diving/snorkeling areas. The beaches are pristine, the forests magical. Leana and Lauren, our two exuberant guides, were very knowledgeable of the local history, flora and fauna. They provided our group the personalized service that Active is so well known for. The food, again, was outstanding. This tour is great for folks of all physical abilities. Hikes were easy to moderate with one slated as difficult at the end of the tour. Our accommodations were fantastic; the tour van/bus comfy. Leana and Lauren made our journey fun and educational. I was deeply impressed that they stressed the importance for all of us to participate in the local Maori dance opportunity...we all had a great time! Additionally, the Maori lead singer stopped by our table later to express his appreciation for the Active Adventure guides always getting their clients to participate. It was evident that Active Adventures was warmly welcomed by the Maori Cultural Center staff. This tour does not disappoint...I am so glad I did the entire tour vs the shorter version. Ending the tour with the Glow worm caves was absolutely magical!! I look forward to taking more Active Adventures in the future.

I really enjoyed the trip and my highlight of the trip is the two-day hike in Nelson Lake National Park. It was not easy but the scenery along the Cascade Track and Robert Ridge Track made every effort worthwhile. I am grateful for the trip leaders Tash and Sam as they were absolutely fabulous in taking good care of each one of us. The trip mates were awesome too.

I absolutely loved my Condor trip with Alvaro. It was the perfect length with one week in Chile and one week in Argentina. Alvaro was wonderful at getting everything organized including delicious dinners. The local guides that joined in each country were great. The hiking was the right level for me in that it challenged me at points and led to stunning views. Make sure to be in good shape and train because the hikes are challenging at times. I also loved the people in my group that are now friends. I couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Our guides Ruby and Katie were exceptional...so knowledgeable of island history, flora and fauna. This trip was more relaxed than other Active Adventures we have been on...the hikes were enjoyable, ranging from easy to moderate and provided wonderous sights. The accommodations were outstanding and the food, as always, was fantabulous. I highly recommend this trip for people who may be hesitant to do the hut to hut overnight hikes. You get to see most of the South Island and tramp portions of many of the Great Hikes. Ruby and Katie worked non-stop to provide everyone in our group of 14 the best personal experience ever. The 2 weeks flew by too fast. No negatives to speak of; everything was well planned and organized to give us the greatest experiences possible. I look forward to partaking in other Active Adventures in the future.

The Condor trip was a trip of a life time. It is not easy but with training and encouragement from the guides, it is very doable. The views from the top are well worth every minute of the climb. The guides were very knowledgeable about the area. The trip was well organized. Lodging, meals and transportation were well planned out and 5 star. Felipe our guide through the W was very encouraging when things got tough. Jessica our group guide did everything she could to make sure we were happy and comfortable. No detail was over looked. As a solo and senior traveler, I would highly recommend Active Adventures. This was my third trip with them and am looking forward to my next one with them. It is trip of a lifetime that should not be passed up.

I usually don’t write review, but this trip is an exception. I caught the hiking “bug†in New Zealand ever since I signed up with Hiking New Zealand Secret South tour in 2013. Something in the kiwi hospitality, warm and relaxed style made me fell in love. Took me long enough to travel with them again. Booking as a solo traveler, it was refreshing to see “No Forced Single Supplementâ€.
At the risk of sounding very cliché, Torres del Paine and Patagonia is close to the top of my bucket list and I wanted to do it right. Overall, the trip by Active Adventure was well organized and seamless, from accommodations, transports, meals, hikes and other activities (biking and cycling). We went at our own pace on the hikes, with the guides sharing their knowledge and experience as we go along.
I don’t normally go on a hike with a guide, especially a local one. Hiking with one is definitely more enriching and adds another dimension to the experience. The guides throughout the trip were knowledgeable locals who were very warm, joyful and full of spirit. You can see their sincere love for their country and were very proud sharing its beauty with us.
Patagonia lived up to its expectations and more. Photos don’t do justice its majestic landscape, you have to be there to experience it. To look up at the three sheer granite peaks of Torres del Paine after a long hike up is something I always remember. Thank you, Active Adventures, for making our trip a memorable and colorful experience.

Excellent trip through Patagonia - The W-Trek was outstanding for its variety of views, glaciers, and refugio's. The Fitz Roy hikes in Argentina were incredible. Our guides were first class and took care of everything.

From the moment my Father and I met with our lead guide, Dan, we felt absolute connection and excitement. Dan and the support team shared so many invaluable lessons that came from the Nepalese people and land. I felt cared for when I became ill (sinus infection) at about 12K feet and with that assistance I felt strong enough physically and mentally when the morning came to hike to the top of Kala Patthar. The entire journey enriched my life dramatically and I greatly look forward to returning to Nepal with Active Adventures.

Active Adventure’s Manuka trip was a once in a lifetime experience. My husband, this being his very first hiking trip and I with friends decided to take this venture and will forever be grateful that we did. We had exceptional guides, Emma and Kaleb. They went out of their way to make sue every part of the trip was exceptional. The hiking was amazing and it challenged us and we were able to see a vast amount of the South Island. New Zealand is a beautiful country and to experience by hiking and actually seeing it close up made our trip even better. We both had an incredible time and will definitely do another trip with Active Adventures!

There are not enough words to describe the fantastic trip I and my two boys made to the South Island for Kiwi adventure. I am pushing 71 years, my boys are 35 and 38. There was one person older than me and with the exception of Mt. Cook 's 2 choices of trails he and I took the River route vs the vertical climb. There were 11 of us along with Pepper and Holly, our guides. The harmony within the group was amazing. I heard absolutely no complaints from anyone concerning any facet of the trip. You would think over 14 days someone would complain or whine about something. I never heard anything close and I got to know all 11 trekkers very well. Pepper and Holly were amazing. Fantastic physical shape, extremely knowledgeable about the fauna, flora, interesting local "tales" about the early settlers. We could have not have had any better guides. So much energy, enthusiasm, support, excellent meals.

My wife and I had a better honeymoon than we could have imagined thanks to Active Adventures! Our guides were top notch -- supremely knowledgeable, always courteous, and genuinely fun people to spend thirteen days with (and pretty good cooks as well). We're already looking forward to our next trip with Active!
