A memorable visit to New Zealand was made all the more delightful because of our two incredible guides. I can't say enough about everything they did from the moment they picked us up on Day 1 through all the adventures, meals, chats, weather, photographs and fun to when they dropped us off at the airport. Incredible experience!

This trip hit all of the highlights of Southern Patagonia - Torres Del Paine (Chile), El Chalten (Argentina), Glaciers galore! The overall trip guide, paired with the local guides in each location, took care of all the finer details and made sure we were prepared and happy each day. The hiking, starting with backpacking the W-Trek, was definitely challenging but the guides did a great job of giving us options to dial the difficulty up or down. The food, even on the W-Trek backpacking route, was delicious. I would highly recommend this adventure!

I've traveled the world to 60 countries and New Zealand is always my top choice for hiking, adventures and meeting the finest fun-loving people. Active Adventures Rimu tour is an outstanding 2-week itinerary full with NZ's south island coast, mountains and tracks. Tash and Irene, our fearless guides, belong on the Active Adventures Hall of Fame web site. (I won't book another tour until they are recognized :) 100% focused on the client experience, Tash and Irene excelled at fun, safety, and expert touring of the south island. They bring local kiwi experience with wonderful stories, great cooking, flawless travel logistics and accommodations and the most amazing work ethic that made our trip highly meaningful and memorable. Truly the best kiwi adventure! Sweet as heaps! :)

From the moment we were picked up to the farewell wave we had 5 Star attention from Simon and Lucy.
Simon’s driving and parking skills were amazing and Lucy’s meals and guidance walking were fantastic.
They were a great team and looked after us well. The highlight for myself was reaching Alex Knob with Lucy guiding me, the sense of achievement was fantastic. However, there were so many highlights it’s hard to single them out but the night on Nelson Lake Hut with the wind blowing and Simon and Lucy’s meal and getting to know everyone was memorable.

From 14hr flight on New Zealand Air with Couch seats, to being Avalanched-In, we enjoyed every minute of our trip. Guides Kim and Alicia from Active Adventures provided us with an unbelievable trip we will cherish forever. The unseasonably rainy weather provided us with many cancelled excursions and hikes only to provide us with breathtaking views of thunderous waterfalls and beautiful snow capped peaks. Each and every lodge or chalet was a perfect ending to a perfect day, surrounded by good people and wonderful food. We were able to capture and experience kiwi history, culture & lifestyle. Biodiversity unparalleled, with perfect guides, always feeling safe and secure. A trip of a lifetime!

I LOVE NEW ZEALAND: Her people are friendly, happy, helpful! The country is gorgeous....mountains, lakes, flowers, trees, trails, food, animals (and no snakes!) I love the politics and intense attention to the ecology. The whole country is clean (even the public toilets!) and no litter. Above all of this were our guides on both islands....delightful, organized, fun, informative, entertaining! This truly was the trip of my lifetime! Thank you New Zealand!

For me I have been lucky enough to experience 5 star plus tourism; this one was different, a personal challenge which was inspiring and gave a great sense of achievement, add in the outstanding organisation, guides, food and the sheer beauty of remote NZ and we had a winner.
Can`t speak highly enough of Active Adventures and have already recommended their product to others
    Thank you AA

New Zealand South Island Rimu trip is a spectacular adventure. The island is breathtaking. The guides are unbelievable. The scenery is beyond description. Everyday was perfect, and that was the case even though we had about 3 days of record flooding. The company and the guides rearranged our schedule to ensure we had great accommodations and experiences. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Yeah Dan & Brogan.

The trip in its entirety was a trip of a lifetime. The scenery was stunning, our group felt more like a family by the end, and Holly and Ashley were the best guides ever. Before leaving for the trip I never thought skydiving would be on my itinerary but the adrenalin rush in Queenstown took control and I loved every second of my jump and am happy to have a video to prove to friends and family that actually I did it.

Patagonia was great! Definitely out of my comfort zone, but I am glad I did it. Alvaro (trip leader) was awesome and very gracious, as was our local guides in Chile (Christian and Paulina) and Argentina (Aime, Maile and Lina). Food was fantastic, as always.

Two things made the Nov RIMU trip especially satisfying for me: our always cheerful, highly adaptable guides Clare and Astrid, and the pre-trip communications and information. We encountered several unexpected weather bits - unprecedented amounts of rain, hail, fog, power outages and flooding - resulting in several changes to the itinerary and an exciting airlift at the end. Through it all, Clare and Astrid were positive and enthusiastic offering adaptations and kept everyone's spirits up. Truly beautiful scenery no matter the weather - we were rewarded with a ridiculous amount of waterfalls at Milford Sound due to the heavy rain. I highly recommend touring with Active Adventures for their itineraries, the excellence of their guides, and awesome support personnel back at HQ. I highly recommend the RIMU trip if you manage your expectations weather-wise and are prepared to flex. It's a great way to experience most of what the South Island has to offer.

Despite most people's advice to skip the North Island in favor of the greater beauty of the South Island, we fell in love with the unique beauty of the beaches, pastures, mountains, lakes and rivers, geothermal wonders, history, small towns, people and especially the Maori culture of the North Island. It should NOT be missed! Our guides, Andy and Jo, are a delightful, perfect team whose experience in life and guiding this trip for Active Adventures is evident. They work seamlessly to ensure safe travels, ultimate fun activities, bellies full of delicious healthy food, and an extensive education about the flora, fauna, geology, history and peoples of the region. They are fun, funny, smart and easy people to be with. The Kauri trip is a perfect way to gain a complete, rounded view and enjoyment of all New Zealand has to offer.

The South Island and Kiwi Trip lived up to their famed reputations and expectations. The scenery is spectacular and diverse, especially as seen from the hiking tracks, kayaks, cruise boats, back roads and unique accommodations chosen for this tour. Although still active, the relatively short, easy trails and sightseeing excursions made for a relaxed adventure that appeals to the traveler looking for a slower-paced, varied outdoor exploration of the wonders of the South Island. Hats off to all the office staff and guides who help plan and organize the Kiwi trip. Our guides, Katie and Ruby, were a fun, delightful, enthusiastic pair who knew how to make the most of each activity. With their lively song playlists, occasional commentary, clever group games and basket full of snacks, they even managed to keep guests entertained during some long drives to the next location. Active Adventures has figured out a way to provide something for everyone visiting the South Island, but the extended length of the Kiwi tour ensures that you get to see a large portion of what the South Island has to offer. My advice to New Zealand travelers is to find a way to budget enough time and money for the full 14-day itinerary of the Kiwi tour.

Caleb and Emma were awesome guides through the duration of our Manuka trip. As well as the hiking and awesome scenery, we learnt heaps about the history of NZ, Maori and the land through their commentary along the way. The weather dished up its best for us, but we always felt that Active Adventures had it in hand, in a fuss-free way behind the scenes. The chartered plane to get us back to Christchurch when all bridges were out on the final day capped off an awesome experience.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Emma , Caleb as well as the other guests. We had many challenges and changes to our original itinerary due to weather conditions but all turned out perfectly! Everyone was flexible and as it turned out we probably had more fun together as a group.
