My wife and I are very active early 60 year olds and we found the Rimu trip was a perfect way to explore the South Island and get plenty of exercise. We went in early March and were very lucky with the west coast weather only encountering one rainy afternoon. Our trip went in the opposite direction as the itinerary as there were two Rimu groups. We had an off & on light rain/mist during our visit to Mt. Cook and our two excellent guides split the group so those wanting to get a lot of vertical hiking with views and those who wanted an easier and just as stunning hike would be satisfied. All the hiking, kayaking and biking as we made our way south and then up the west coast was perfect. I am an avid mountain biker from Bend OR so we chose the Queen Charlotte Track mountain biking option which met and exceeded my expectations. The accommodations on the Queen Charlotte Sound were fantastic. We stayed in a home of a husband/wife team (our rooms were exterior entry) who prepared excellent meals and prepared bag lunches to take with us on our rides. Their knowledge of wines was amazing and they kept bringing out more of their favorite select NZ wines. I had the best sauvignon blanc I have ever tasted from a special bottle they opened for us. I biked along a loop trail on the ridge-line of Queen Charlotte Sound with great views and would classify as more difficult (blue). Our guide did have a very difficult black diamond loop but we chose the blue. The best part of our stay was the outdoor hot tub where we enjoyed our wine, soaked in the heat, and enjoyed the glow worms putting on a light show. We are now planning our next Active Adventure trip in the Himalayas.

When I hit day 5 it became apparent to me that this was going to a very challenging trek ! Although with Koru's and Shree's encouragement, very positive attitude (and Shree & Koru's singing) I gained more and more strength as each day went on. Then the day came when we reached base camp - WOW !!! The overall feeling of elation, accomplishment and self confidence that will be with me forever cannot be described. I can't begin to thank Koru, Shree & the porters enough - well done Active !!!

We’ve not seen NZ any other way, but I can’t imagine a better way. This is a spectacular country and I think that Holly and Pepper pulled us around, up, over and under most of it. We stayed in varied but all excellent accommodations, saw some wonderful sites and experienced snow avalanches and 30 C heat. The wildlife was extraordinary too, and the guides knew their stuff and made it interesting. And they must know ever good coffee and cake shop on the South Island. Best of all was their team building, a small bus for two weeks could be a challenge, but they brought us all together and we had a blast. All in all a lovely experience.

We had worried about how hard the Inca trail would be and read many stories about the "Classic Fails" on the trail. We trained hard before the trip and handled it fine. What we didn't expect was to taken care of so well. We were the only two on our Jaguar trip that opted for the "Classic Inca trail" option. That meant that we had the entire crew of porters, cook and guide to look after only us two! We felt pampered and privileged to be hiking the Inca trail so well looked after. Getting to the "Sun Gate" and viewing Macha Picchu was truly amazing...The trip of a lifetime!

I can’t say enough positive things about our 'Jaguar' trip! I was apprehensive about the whole thing, but found it to be a marvelous, challenging adventure. Zac was knowledgeable, encouraging, and supportive of each member of our group. We were all stretched beyond our expectations, but felt safe and looked out for throughout the trip. Salvador assisted on the Lares hike and was a joy to have with us. He too was knowledgeable and very personable.

This truly was the trip of a lifetime: adventure, beauty, challenge, knowledge about Nepal, wonderful guides, wonderful people of Nepal, spiritual awareness and wonderful time with my family and new friends I met on the trip. It was everything I dreamed Nepal would be and more. I am having a wonderful time sharing my stories of my journey and reviewing my pictures which cannot possibly reflect the beauty and majesty of those massive mountains we experienced. The people of Nepal were amazing and so happy. I feel really privileged to have had the opportunity to see and feel Nepal. DK and Amerit were awesome and so kind and knowledgeable and careful. I always felt safe and watched. They were so patient with us all. It made the journey wonderful in all aspects. I loved every minute, and have bragged on all of you to my friends.

Feeling thankful for having met such a great group of people associated with Active Adventures. From being welcomed in Kathmandu to our many adventures trekking to EBC and back it was an exciting time! I really enjoyed touring in Kathmandu and learning about the history and culture of the Nepali people. It is a beautiful country. The majesty of the Himalayas and the experience of trekking the route to EBC and back, seeing the many towns and way of life along the way is truly memorable.

From our arrival in Kathmandu to EBC and back to Kathmandu (Thamel) Active Adventures was there every step of the way. Our guides and porters were professional, engaged and friendly from the beginning to end. Through flight cancellations, alternate plans /transportation, and ailments including one of their own, these people demonstrated complete commitment to every client. Exceptional people and each one of them a credit to Active Adventures.

My wife and I went on the October EBC trip with her 2 sisters in 2019. I thought this was going to be just another trip into some mountains, but I was wrong. Besides getting to see the incredible Himalayan Mountain Range up close, we were introduced to the mountain culture that makes Nepal a truly wonderful place to be. We got to watch as our guides greeted others on the mountain that they knew as we worked our way up the mountains. It made me realize that the crazy path up to Base Camp is more like a long extended village where you actually get to see much of the Buddhist way of life in process. The Active guides were always there to help us on bad days and trip is well planned for acclimation. At times I thought it was too much, but as the process unfolds, everything comes together. We were very fortunate to have clear weather for most of our trip and I'm hoping get some great images of the mountains.

The breathtaking vistas of Sagarmatha National Park surrounded us each day as we trekked from Lukla to EBC. Our guides DK and Amrit enabled us to learn, understand, and appreciate the Nepalese Customs and wonders of their home. There is more to see and learn so I expect to return. In addition, the logistics of the trip were handled perfectly by DK,Amrit and the Active Adventures staff to ensure comfortable travel and lodging accommodation.

The depth of knowledge, humanism, culture and relevance allowed me to learn, feel and experience this trip on a deeper level. DK is one of the finest people I’ve ever met and is a credit to your company. Amrit was also an exceptional person and put his heart into making this experience so heartfelt.

This trip was fantastic. So well organized--excellent and amazing guides and porters, that were so friendly and prepared and easy to get along with, willing to answer every question and meet every need. Accommodations were great, food was amazing throughout, and the camaraderie was top notch. Mother nature helped with warm temps, lots of sun and not a drop of rain. I can't say enough about Arjun and Kim, we all thought they were fantastic. Our porters: Sarki, Batri, Davindrah, Jilki, and Ganesh were fantastic, and our final night dinner and dancing was such a blast. This was a first Active Adventure vacation for my wife and I, but won't be our last. I felt like I left a piece of myself behind in Nepal, when all was said and done. This was a life changing experience for certain.
