Our two guides, Laura and Ellie made this trip. They were delightful and did their best to make our trip comfortable and fun. The scenery was sensational and the weather was a constant source of entertainment and frustration. Our accommodation was excellent and the food at each venue plentiful and tasty.

Being a flat lander from the farm country of Minnesota, I had heard the term "the Alps", but had not ever given much thought to them. When I signed up for this trip I had rather bland expectations, I guess I had read somewhere that these were a unique mountain landscape. Wow, what an understatement. Almost every turn in the trail opened up a new horizon of jaw dropping beauty. Over and over I can remember stopping along the trail, being flat out astounded by what lay before me. As our guide Andy remarked on one of these occasions, "the trails just keep on giving"! On my previous 3 Active Adventures "Adventures", (Jaguar, Condor and Annapurna Sanctuary) the food and accommodations at times were rudimentary and basic due to the remote areas that you were traveling. As the Dolomites are in the heart of Europe, the food was fantastic and the accommodations were first class. I daresay the room in
San Cassiano might have been one of the nicest rooms I had ever stayed in. And Andy our guide and Andreas our local guide were a joy to be with. They were both so interesting and helpful. I must say, taking our leave brought a bit of sadness. So there you have it. My 4th "trip of a lifetime" with Active. And in about a years time (good lord willing and the creek don't rise) it is off to Bhutan to see if the streak can be extended.

Active Adventures provided a wonderful blend of culture, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking along with incredible scenery. Our blend of guides which included Holly, our Kiwi connection, Jean Marc, our French guide, and Boi, our Catalonian driver and food gatherer extraordinaire were fun, extremely knowledgeable, and very committed to the enjoyment of our trip. Taking a day to kayak in the middle of the trip and then a day for light mountain biking at the conclusion gave different perspectives of the area and a much needed rest to tired muscles. Jean Marc had a wealth of stories and details about the region and cultures that added depth to the beauty of each hike. He quite frequently took the 'road less traveled' to ensure that we were as alone on the trail as we could be. Our food in each location was of each region and excellent. One of my absolute favorite aspects of the trip was our daily lunches. Boi would procur items from each area; breads, cheeses, meats, spreads, etc and we would each take an item in our own pack. Holly and Jean Marc would then take other items like homemade salads, special condiments, or spreads. We'd hike to a spot and eat a wonderful picnic of essentially tapas at a Refugio or on a mountainside. My biggest regret is that they didn't keep a list of the things we ate so I could possibly find them at home. It was delicious and beautiful dining with glorious views of the mountains. Holly was certainly our caretaker. You'd never know it as she was delightful, fun, knowledgeable, and never seemed to tire. She packs a good snowball too. With all of that, she took good care of making things work, of being sure the guests were comfortable, and that life went smoothly. I'd travel with her anytime. One last thing, I like the guest limit that we had. There were eight of us and it was a good sized group. It was fun to meet new people but it wasn't so large that you either felt like a herd on the trail or that being at the front of the pack was imperative. Well done!

Although the trip started with a snow storm and missing luggage, it turned into one of the most fun we've been on. Guides, Andy & Andreas were great. After the storm cleared, we had beautiful blue skies for the rest of the trip and the scenery was amazing.

Had a great time with the Jaguar trip! Everything was well-organized and our trip leader, Jessica, was amazing. On reflecting about the trip, it is difficult to see where it would have been better. The food, the sights, the activities were all great. The local guides we met for the activities were all very knowledgeable and passionate for Peru - and it showed. We had a small issue with our second night at the hotel (we arrived a day early) but that was resolved quickly by Jessica. All said, a great trip!

We had a fantastic time in the Dolomites with Active Adventures. Our guides, Andy and Richard, were outstanding and personable. The group of 12 travelers from around the world made for a fun and interesting time. September was the perfect time to go, the hotels, refugios and food were outstanding.

The Jaguar trip is an excellent itinerary if you are interested in seeing Peru in the area around Macchu Picchu, Inca Trail, and rainforest. The schedule is packed with interesting but accessible activities. The local guides are all unbelievably knowledgeable and our trip guide, Jessica, made every single day unforgettable.

Loved that I could adventure like a teenager without getting hurt. Our guides took care of transportation, food, accommodations, information on history of area, geology and fauna.
