When you have mother nature flooding out bridges and making glaciers dangerous and you still have a total and great experience, you know you have wonderful leaders! The communing with nature on this trip was outstanding. It’s difficult to capture experiences with wildlife but that’s exactly what happened. I’ll never, ever forget my walk with the Kea.

Wow what a trip, guide and porters were amazing. The chef was the envy of all others of the trail.

The Manuka trip met all our expectations and more. Emma, Button & Pim were superior guides. Friendly, knowledgeable, thoughtful, hardworking. They had an interest that we had a good experience and it was fantastic! The highest compliment is we’d love to join active adventure on another trip with the same guides. Manuka has so many wonderful side trips. It was like being with a friend on a trip instead of with 10 people.

Loved the variety of scenery and the level of adventure over the course of the entire adventure. The selection of lodgings and daily activities was perfect and felt like it was tailored to me. That being said I did love to be pushed just a little bit every day as we added another amazing set of memories into this trip. At two weeks it actually felt a little too short! I was ready for more and can't wait for the next trip to northern Patagonia.

I was knocked out by the marvelous adventure. The two women guides were outstanding. Their attention to detail, kindness, professionalism, ability to tell stories and the history of New Zealand was amazing. Mel was a magnificent and thoughtful chef. The food was over the top. The quality of how they managed, moved, directed, guided and moved us from one place to another was seamless. I am most grateful for such a wonderful experience and what really made it so were both our guides.

Other than our acclimatization days this trek is quite hard to complete because of the altitude and cold. However I really couldn't find anything to complain about and wouldn't change a thing My thank to KD and Amrat and Rom and the other porters. I rally have a sense of achievement and just so happy to have competed and completed the challenge. So thankful to have done it with the Active Adventures team.

You know that you've had an awesome trip when (a) you can't wipe the smile off your face while you're on the trip, (b) as soon as you get home you start looking for more trips to take with Active Adventures, or (c) the thing you were least impressed about on your Everest Base Camp Hike was actually seeing Mt. Everest? How about (d), all of the above?! This is my second Active Trip, it was just as well run and fun as the first, and will not be my last!

I know this must sound trite, but this experience was honestly life-changing. The Himalayas are enough to stagger even the most epic of adventurers but coupled with the expertise, trustworthiness, intelligence, and fun that comprised our Active Adventures team, I was blown away by how seamless our experience was. Even now, a few days after returning, I find myself daydreaming about our trip. I cannot recommend Active enough-- from the pre-departure checklists ensuring that you've complied all the necessary documents to the 'boots on the ground' experience that our guides (Koru and Amrit) provided, I felt safe and taken care of throughout the journey. Cannot wait for the next adventure with you guys!

Lauren and Kaleb were wise beyond their years, vigilant, kind, funny, capable, and an absolute joy. The first few days of our trip had misty rain, rainy mist, muddy terrain, and pelting downpours, yet our guides, were ever cheerful, positive, and encouraging. The first few rainy days morphed into glorious sunshine and breath-taking views. Rain or shine, we had a blast! Undaunted by weather of any kind, we hiked on, laughing, bonding, and saying, “ We’re HERE!!! We’re in New Zealand!†And our gifted guides helped create the magic. Kaleb was an excellent driver, and witty raconteur, and his appreciation of his native land was contagious. On days when we did not dine at restaurants, Lauren did the impossible: she seemingly effortlessly accommodated ten diverse palates with her sumptuous breakfasts, made-to -order lunches, and gourmet dinners. Her infectious smile greeted us each morning, and her “ you can do it†support gave us the confidence to tackle some challenging hikes.
