I am still not over the overwhelming impression of New Zealand. It is the most unique, amazingly interesting and beautiful place that I have been to. The landscapes, flora and fauna are unique and it took excellent guides to introduce them to me and to familiarize me with their details. The knowledge and familiarity of the guides with places, history, plants, animals and their special features, as well as the delivery of the details was commendable. We were well taken care of and felt at home with our guides. The group blended fast and the guides were part of the group, which gave the trip a very special flavor. The end of the trip came too soon and left me with a decision that more will be soon.

Wow! Words can’t describe how wonderful this trip was. Clair and Mel, our guides. Had a wealth of knowledge about NZ, the culture, environment, plants and animals, and Maori stories. Mel is an outstanding cook and our meals were always delicious. Great variety of activities and even had a few challenges which gave us a great feeling of accomplishment. It was a great 2 weeks.

I absolutely enjoyed that almost private trip, it gave me a unique opportunity to explore regions of the South Island I had not set foot in before, and to do it with a local guide was an awesome experience. I've learned so much about fauna and flora, and geology as well. Every little detail was planned to make our trip seamless and perfect, and the weather was on our side as well the whole way, which made the trips to Siberia and Milford, the highlights of the trip, even more perfect! Even with the amount of work our guide Claire had to do, she was always cheerful and ready for an extra hike! I can't thank enough Active for this amazing opportunity, and I am glad to be able to promote such a good experience in which I believe as well. Thanks again!

Wow!!!!! What a jam packed trip that will never be forgotten!!! I had so much fun getting to see so many different things on the South Island. Being able to hike so much and experience many different things was a blast! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys moving a lot and getting to see many highlights in one trip. Holly and Katie, our guides, were AMAZING! They were so much fun to get to know and really engaged with our whole group. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience =)

this is a very well planned trip. We traveled extensively throughout the South Island still managing to hike and/or kayak most days. Our hikes varied from coastal , forested, tropical, glacier valley, or mountainous treks. My favorite was the Key Summit on the Route burn Trak. The diverse scenery was beautiful. We went on 5 kayaking trips in fjords, river carved sounds and lagoons again surrounded by beautiful landscapes. We stayed mostly in simple lodgings situated in the midst of these beautiful landscapes. Our favorite was the Braemar Station, remote sheep shearing sheds with an incredible night sky and sunrise mountain views including Mt Cook peeking above the clouds. Our guides, James and Maya were very energetic, enthusiastic and determined to insure we each had lots of fun. They cooked most of our meals managing to accommodate our various dietary needs including finding coconut yoghurt for our breakfast muesli. The venison steak was surprising delicious. They shared their hometowns and personal stories with us as well as other cultural information. This trip definitely surpassed our expectations. I would rate it excellent.

Although I was the youngest by at least 25 years, I had an amazing two weeks getting acquainted with my travel partners and exploring the South Island. Our guides, MJ and James were simply amazing; each had their own sense of humor and different areas of expertise. I love the variety of places we stayed at, the amount of activities available, and the flexibility of our schedule. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of healthy and home cooked meals we were able to share as a group. Definitely recommend doing the overnight hike, well worth the effort.

The Kauri trip with Active Adventures New Zealand is truly a dream trip for people who like to experience a country in an active way. This itinerary is designed to take you not only to the touristy places everyone knows about, but also those places only a native New Zealander would think of. The guides are excellent and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, showing you new ways to explore their world with a joy and a zest that is infectious. During our tour we hiked to unexpected heights, sandboarded down dunes into a bay, mountain-biked in a forest, and kayaked near a nature preserve, just to mention a few of the memories I'll take away. Our guides even prepared some fabulous Kiwi meals for us! Can't imagine experiencing New Zealand any another way now that we've done it through Active Adventures.

What a wonderful, full of adventure trip we had! Lots of hikes with fantastic vistas, biking a beautiful trail, kayaking in Milford Sound, flying into beautiful Siberian Valley,helicoptering onto a glacier. Everyday was one or more new adventures. Our guides, Katie and Holly, kept us well fed, well traveled and well entertained. Katie has a true gift of storytelling and keeping us safe on the road. Both Holly and Katie were always positive and encouraging even on our hardest hikes. We were fortunate to have them guide us.
We came home stronger and dreaming of more adventures with Active Adventures,

The Tui trip was a great week of activities through the South Island of New Zealand. The scenery on the hikes and water excursions was just breath-taking. We were blessed with excellent weather through the entire trip but it would still have been a great trip even if the weather hadn't behaved 100% of the time. We had that best guides of any trip I have ever taken. They were ALWAYS upbeat and encouraging and kept us educated about everything we were seeing and experiencing. The total group size was 11 which made it easy to make friends and get to know everyone within just a few days of being together. I would recommend the trip to anyone.
